All of a sudden we take Daz's word as gospel now? :what:

usually dre done always had help though :yeshrug:

yella with the production on n.w.a. albums
daz w/ the chronic and doggystyle
stu-b-doo, bud'ha, mel-man w/ the dre presents aftermath compilation
mel-man and scott storch w/ the chronic 2001, mel man w/ the slim shady lp, the marshall mathers lp
various producers w/ compton

dre is a great mixer but as far as production goes, he's not the greatest for the simple fact he's always seemed to have had some help w/ production along the way

meanwhile nikkas like premier and rza was crankin' out classic beats and albums for the most part

producer doesnt mean beatmaker, Im just saying for that dude trying to give out false info

everything else is 100

production is literally, sequencing etc ... anything that helps produce a real song

true but in hip hop, a producer and production is different from the traditional sense of the word and how it's referred to in r&b, jazz, and rock

when nikkas say "such n such produced this". it implies that "producer a" made the beat. because hip hop is built off of samplin' and interpolatin' other forms of music

but you right, a production does also have to do with shyt like sequencin' and i'm sure bein' that dre had already been producin' way before daz came into the fold, he was still in charge but i think once he showed daz how to work the boards and daz started learnin' and doin' more and dre fell back and because he was in good company, only tended to the more technical side of things like mixin' or addin' an idea here or there

why am i not surprised? :martin:

man, dre had too many cooks in the kitchen for him to be greatest then. he's always had a co producer with him. 1st it was yella, then it was daz, then it was sam sneed, bud'da, mel-man, scott storch, mahogany, focus, hi-tek, mark baston etc etc etc

dre's lane is the mixin'. but when it come to beats, it's other nikkas doin' the beats and he just comin' in and cleanin' them up :francis:

and while dr. dre might be a producer in the traditional sense, in hip hop, a producer means the nikka who makes the beats :wtb:

this makes me think back to when suge was interviewed by rolling stone and he was sayin' daz was the one doin' the beats for doggystyle :ohhh:

Suge Knight Reflects on 'Doggystyle' 20 Years Later
U could listen to Doggy Dogg World and tell that was ALL Daz. Then u have Ain't No Fun. And a few other joints. shyt like Gin and Juice and What's My Name are Dre's sound.

yeah he's had help but where is Mel Man now? where is Yella now? where is Stu-B-Doo? Scott Storch NEVER made anything opn the level of Still DRE, Daz never made anything on the level of Doggystyle which he supposedly produced. even if Dre didn't make every beat on Doggystyle i think it was more of Suge's idea to give Dre sole credit for the album because he had the established name. Dre never took credit for producing all of MMLP or SSLP, just because people assumed he was going to do all of it or they assumed he did certain beats without looking at credits is their problem.

Them nikkas explained that they ran out of juice by the time they got to their own shyt. shyt Mel Man said that he got accustomed to making having an unlimited budget dealing with Dre's shyt and when it come to his own shyt he wasn't used to the restrictions. Also. Daz has PLENTY classic beats outside of Doggystyle. So u straight buggin for that statement.
