One thing I noticed about DC since moving back here from LA…nikkas is still posted up heavy outside the liquor store/carryouts/etc.
Man, that's all hoods tbh. I'm with the fam in Bmore and you see the same shyt.
Murder rates are up across the country due to inflation forcing more people into the drug game. I mean suddenly your job that was barely a livable wage isn't anymore
What?! The drug game isn't even really popping like that anymore. A lot of the big-time dealers in DC/DMV got locked up 5-6 years ago. Weed is legal in DC so cops aren't harassing folks for slinging dimes and 20s.
No one's really standing on corners. A lot of the drug game went digital.
Rising inflation is quite recent and the full effects won't really be seen until later in the year/early 2022.
Meanwhile nearby, PG County’s murder rate has risen to 119 last night. shyt’s like the mid to late 2000’s all over again
And up the road, Baltimore’s homicide rate recently hit 300.
The 90’s might be tryna make a comeback with this….Or at least the late 90’s.
Yea I've been hearing PG and Bmore have been very hot of late. Tbh, all over the country, something is up with crime.
ngl I've never really been but I thought gentrification was taking over much of DC. What's the story?
A lot of NorthEast DC and NorthWest have been gentrified. Especially around U-Street and 14th Street. Shaw, Petworth, Columbia Heights are other areas as well, especially Columbia Heights.
It's South East DC (across the Anacostia river) that's still kinda rough and even then, the gentrification is starting to creep up, especially close to the Metro stations e.g. Benning Road
