You made most of this upclunky controls and combat, an open world that you slowly unlock more and more of as the story progresses, campy as hell, emphasis on surviving and running from enemies instead of fighting, zombies

Only one that's true is open world you unlock as you go but that's how a lot of games work, and even in that similarity Dead Rising and RE handled it very differently.
New areas were unlocked in RE by solving puzzles, and finding keys. Dead rising areas were unlocked through story progression.
I've literally NEVER heard DR and RE be compared.
