i think the proof is that nearly everyone who has advanced us, who was pro black, who was focused on black self Independence, etc.I think the wrong question is being asked here then. It is not a matter if the religious can be pro black. The question we should ask is if we are in any position to reject the help of the sincere religious people. I have never met one but will not be ignorant enough to say there are none out there. Its is very easy for me to look at slavery, or how modern 'leaders' in our community like Sharpton and Jackson come from a religious leadership background and dismiss the spiritual altogether.
We need to be thinking about how we can use the ideas of all groups of people - all races, religions, political/socio/economic groups, different nations, basically any successful group of people. Let's think about using their ideas to improve ourselves. The path toward improvement is one of embracing the people who genuinely want to improve the community intellectually and socially. We need to reject the democrat/preacher ask for a handout and take from the community leadership we have had such as kwame kilpatrick and Sharpton. Not because of their religion, but because they have no incentive to want us to be better.
We need to identify people who actually care about the cause. We can not afford to exclude based on religion or include those among us that are solely self interested. And we need to do it smartly. I'm worried the lower class doesn't have many leadership choosing mistakes left before complete obscurity.
was also religious.
could have easily been atheist.
so it doesn't matter... even if white media puts up religious goofballs, we don't have take the 'leaders' they give us.
