reminiscing over the days when the SO SO DEF billboard was displayed proudly over I-75.......... :to:

Jermaine Dupri Sued for $2 million, May Have to Sell So So Def Music | AllHipHop.com

Jermaine Dupri may have just celebrated the 20th Anniversary of So So Def but he’s at risk of losing some of over a debt.

In 2010, Dupri took out an $4.8 million loan from SunTrust Bank. He’s since paid more than half of it back but according to a lawsuit brought on by SunTrust the checks stopped coming. Now Dupri is apparently on the hook for $2 million.

In order to pay off the balance Dupri may have to sell copyrights and royalties to the many songs his label owns from artists like Kriss Kross, Da Brat, Bow Wow and Xscape.

This isn’t the first time Dupri has been in the red. Earlier this year he paid off a $3 million tax lien and had to save his Atlanta mansion from foreclosure twice.

Maybe he could ask his billionaire ex-girlfriend for a solid.

I keep telling these motherfukkers to just go into pimping :heh:

You rich as fukk.....you spend money to make money(if u aint already poor like dudes like me)

All Dupri gotta do is go into pimping.....doesn't have to be in person......u can do it behind the scenes.....

then you can take care of all your debt faster......

improvise.... you rich.....go get some free USBs from people you know......then download expensive college textbooks and sell them to students......

:heh: what a amateur

Dupri should've kept finding hit groups and teen rappers for So So Def.

This.

That is literally a built-in market. You have to know where the money is in this industry if you're seeking longevity.

Look at Full Force. When the industry stopped calling them, what'd they do? Reinvented themselves as boy band songwriters. You don't think they still eatin' good off them checks? :stopitslime:

Jermaine had a knack for molding kid talent. He should have stayed in that lane. There was another Kriss-Kross or Bow-Wow or Brat out there somewhere, even without having to resort to those prior gimmicks.

Hell, he should pull a Maurice Starr and find a WHITE group...his own version of One Direction.

it's not just about FINDING THE TALENT and having that niche market...

it's about OWNING that TALENT......

the thing that Maurice Starr and Full Force have in common is they the intellecutal property which they created...Starr had the licencsing on New Edition and New Kids on the Block...and Full Force own thier share of publishing as songwriters..........

as i said earlier...JD lost out on major bread and had to resort to "borrowing" because he didn't have executive producer credits on all that work he did and SO SO DEF never evolved into an independent entity....

yeah the game is called POLITICS my friend......

look these LOANS can be giving out with discretion...they (loan officers) don't go by the books all the time......

i know plenty of white guys whom i've come across whom are in horrible credit situations and have debt up to thier knees, but because they KNOW somebody or got somebody to vouch for them ...they get that bread :win:

yeah it's fukked up and was exposed years ago by a phrase called "REDLINING" where banks basically single out areas with large urban communities (black) as AUTOMATICLY BEING DENITED any financing regardless how good thier credit is....

in this case with Dupri ,it's not RACE it's a case of "CLASS" and ASSOCIATION, him being affiliated with cats like LA Reid and being a figure in the Atlanta community shouldn't suprise me that he is able to acquire such a loan.

my black a$$ AIN'T connected like that.....

even though i have like a 730 credit score , never defaulted on a loan nor had a bankruptcy or repossesion and make damn good money (liquid)......

them mofos still :pacspit: on me.........like some "fukk outta here nicca ..u ain't nobody!!"

and i know the MAIN REASON i got that loan from that credit union up the street was the simple fact that the corporation i work for has business accounts thier...so "my job was my credit"..... :manny:

sad case again of ..it's not WHAT YOU KNOW..it's WHO YOU KNOW

we need to teach all of our children this important reality of life....because i can honestly say without NETWORKING i would not be in the position i am now.......

Yep. I remember a few years ago him and Greg Street got into it and Greg aired him out on V103 and put him in his place.

am i the only one who think a collabo talent label of dash and dupri would be worth a shot? :ld:

you guys need to :stop: with the DAME DASH and JERMAINE DUPRI comparisons....

they are TWO DIFFERENT ANIMALS...

one thing i can say about Dash is that he came in the game as a BOSS!!

that was his total intention from the jump and didn't take shyt from the TALL ISREALI MEN like LYOR COHEN whom were trying to handle him like some field nicca , and do sheisty shyt like trying to get him to sell his masters, as well as cause division between him and Jay.

Dupri on the other hand...didn't have the balls to tell Tommy Mottala LOOK MOFO give me executive producer credits and respect my brand!! (so so def)

Hell he did so much "leg work" (slave labor) for Tommy and countless other moguls , but never had the balls to just really just boss up...

that's why his name NEVER COMES UP in the discussion of black moguls coming together to form a distribution network (jay-z, diddy, birdman, irv gotti, j prince, suge)......all these cats along with Dash have owned masters and now what it means to secure a JOINT VENTURE distribution deal.

JD is NO dash.........and although Dash has many shortcomings himself , you can NEVER say he wasn't an OWNER at least one time in his life.
