How can I have it confused when I just explained why I think hip hop is dead, and not necessarily the music? You seem have rap and Hip Hop culture (which is a sub-culture of black culture and it's people) confused.
What the hell are you talking about? Sounds like you're a confused fan. Race is directly related to culture in everything, not just Hip Hop. Hip Hop comes from black people and culture so of course it's related as it should be. Most blacks weren't down with rap? LMAO! And R&B/Soul/Funk comes from black culture as well, so black folks liking those sounds makes sense, especially since they came first.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to make money from it. It's no different than Chinese food. The issue was outsiders who owned the corporation would put clauses in their loans that stipulated that they can dictate what the recipient of said loan (i.e the rapper) can create. I guarantee if the hip hop was majority black owned and distributed all the topics that are constantly debated about daily would not exist.
Of course black people in NYC created hip hop but, all the black people didn't like it. Yes, most black people weren't down with rap. I was there, so whats so funny. West Indians didn't like it. Older black people didn't like it. So yeah, most black people didn't like it. I know r&b, and funk, comes from black culture but, rap is not the same as those. The people who played those forms of music would look at you crazy if you called rap, music. Most black people liked those sounds because it was familiar but, people who loved rap didn't like the sound for rap music. Listen to RZA since you think this is just me talking:
Think what you want but, you looking at things from a simple minded way, and I experienced alll the shyt you saying, and a lot of black people sold out rap, so I know for a fact that blaming whites for it isn't not true. Yeah, they did play a part but, it was because both the black, and white didn't care for that rugged hip hop. They watered it down for more money.
