The want a bunch of 17/18 year olds to sacrifice so much so they can feel good :mjlol:

This has been my argument for years. Go build up them HBCUs and make them a viable option. Don't force a kid to sacrifice for your idea.

Diddy, Jay, and Master P could each adopt an HBCU in the same way T. Boone Pickens did OK St. and at least fix the field/gym for a few hundred thousands.

Basketball can work, but football needs a lot more resources.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Yeah you can go to a bumfukk school and make it to the league, but would you tell your son to be a star at a no name school or be that dude at Bama/Clemson?

Not too mention, these HBCU'S have poor weight rooms and dorms. Why would a frail QB prospect(like Lamar Jackson in HS) go to Grambling, when they don't have the adequate weight room to put on mass?

the weight room shyt is an excuse.

everything you u described are excuses that are used to condition the mind.

Stop it nikka :mjlol:
I'd be tempted to curse my son's ass if he was a top football prospect and he bypassed USC for Grambling. :mjlol:

Facts

Mr. Pickens was a record-setting philanthropist. His $165 million gift to Oklahoma State in 2005 was the single largest gift for athletics in NCAA history

There isn’t a leap to make.

Next time name, names - what’s difficult to understand :unimpressed:

this.

the kids already been putting up with bullshyt from ages 1-17 yet they should go to these schools for the sake of the appeasement of others so the hoop team won’t go 2-33 next season.

fukk that. The burden is on these old heads to put up or shut up. If the endowment is trash, that’s a problem. If the apparel and TV deals are trash, that’s a problem. If the facilitators are trash, that’s a problem and if the alums aren’t making big donations then that’s an issue too. But the students can’t fix that.

The best recruits deserve the best shyt just like the best students deserve great classrooms + supplies. These brehs see what a school like Oregon has and are hyped to use their training facilities. The HBCU bar has to be raised higher if they are serious about sports. And if they aren’t, put those resources into getting a collegiate tech “bubble” in place so brehs can get a piece of the technology space instead of being frozen out of Silicon Valley

It's not pessimism, we talking reality. Your Alabama's of the world were built off the wealth of American Slavery, meanwhile schools like JSU were started by freed slaves themselves. These HBCU's can't compete, unless they get massive funding from the govt.

For fukks sake, Prime refrenched Clemson in the article. JSU's endowment is 60M, Clemson's is $700M. On top of that, Clemson and other top football schools have boosters, the Gramblings of the world don't have that.

And that 60M can’t do shyt because it’s spread out plus it’s not like they can dive into it like Scrooge McDuck and spend it. Some of this $ is gifts that a promised over time so they have to wait on the money to come in year after year.

there are Ivys and powerhouse schools with donors that give $50-60M in one motion like it’s nothing while JSU has to scrounge for a fraction of that. Alums and boosters are a huge factors with the big school because they want to reinforce the school across the board, the athletics and make sure their own descendants can go there as well.

And then you have the apparel deals, licensing, TV deals and bowl payouts that these big time schools routinely eat off of. They don’t even need the fukking university to eat. They are their own economy.
