The two fastest men in the NFL back in the 80's.

I remember standing up when it was just Darrell and Ron on the screen this Monday Night game.

Ron Brown won...

Peak speed is usually after the 1st 50. That's why Track and Field's shortest sprint is really 100m and not 60m. Sprinters usually don't hit the perfect stride until they are somewhere around 70m.

Deion was just flat out faster.

Nah, 100m dash is just as much about muscle endurance as it is about speed. 60m specialists (usually shorter folks) tend to hit peak speed quickly, but can't maintain it over the course of 100m. You usually hit peak speed well before the 50m mark, which is why sprinters try to have a steady acceleration, reach peak speed, and then maintain that speed for the last 30m (in the 100m). If you run a 100m without some muscle endurance, you'll end up :dead: afterwards.

I've seen Beebe have real long runs where he burned everybody, so I know he has muscle endurance......... but Deion has that cheetah-speed and he ran Beebe down like prey :wow:

disagree entirely. The 100m is flat out speed. You'll probably hit your fastest speed after 50m. In a 60m race it's over by the time you peak. The 200 and 400m are speed, and muscle endurance. 60m is simply quick reaction and speed. It doesn't really matter how fast you are in a 60m, if you don't get out of the blocks lightening quick your time will suffer tremendously and it'll really give you an inaccurate reading of what your true sprint speed is. If you want a true indication of how fast someone is, check their 100m time.

Coli nikkas will argue over anything :what:

I can't tell if you're :troll: or not, but you're gonna sit here and argue with a nikka that ran track in college, and has a couple of friends that've ran in the Olympics. Not to mention all the speed work I've done over the years for football and rugby. I'm not really trying to argue, because the phrases I've bolded imply that you've never ran track or done speed work. Sprinters would laugh at you for arguing this shyt with such conviction :heh:

That's fine and dandy, but I ran D1 track as well on a partial scholarship. My events were the 100m, 200 and 400m plus LJ and HJ. I also held the 400m dash record for my school for a total of 1 year and competed in NCAA Nationals. So yes, you are pattently wrong about my background. In HS I competed in the Indoor, 60m and 55m in State events and was ranked in the PENN top 10, which is why I know quite a bit about them (my team mate was also State champ in the 55m in PA). AND back in the day I ran and beat an ex-Football NFL/VTech running back named Kevin Jones in the 55m. He knows it and I know it. Also, Bills cornerback Bryan Scott would ALSO know my name if you showed it to him even after 13 years because we competed against one another in Spring Track in the 100m and 200m.

And yes, two of my college team mates qualified for the Jamaican team in 2004 (1 in the 400m and the 2nd in the 400m HH). So getting that out the way, yes, I wouldn't "argue" unless I actually felt that I knew what I was talking about. But thanks again for your imput.

Darrell Green was known for having monsterous speed...even when he was like 40. Back in 1990, a true fastest man of world event would have been between Darrel Green, Deion and Bo Jackson.

deion and that nikka had asthma...he would pick a nikka off..hold the ball in the air broadcasting..run sideline 2 side line...then hit top speed up field only to high step at the 40...with the opposition closes man 10yds away

Who was faster? Darrell Green or Deion Sanders? Cause Darrell Green ran down both Tony Dorsett AND Eric dikkerson

Growing up in Florida and Georgia I heard so many urban legend stories about 80's nikkas and their 40 times...I don't know what was ever proven, but legend has it that Bo Jackson ran 4.16 or some retarded ass number...

D.C. media reported that Green ran 4.4 on his 50th birthday...

:mindblown:
