That's fine and dandy, but I ran D1 track as well on a partial scholarship. My events were the 100m, 200 and 400m plus LJ and HJ. I also held the 400m dash record for my school for a total of 1 year and competed in NCAA Nationals. So yes, you are pattently wrong about my background. In HS I competed in the Indoor, 60m and 55m in State events and was ranked in the PENN top 10, which is why I know quite a bit about them (my team mate was also State champ in the 55m in PA). AND back in the day I ran and beat an ex-Football NFL/VTech running back named Kevin Jones in the 55m. He knows it and I know it. Also, Bills cornerback Bryan Scott would ALSO know my name if you showed it to him even after 13 years because we competed against one another in Spring Track in the 100m and 200m.

And yes, two of my college team mates qualified for the Jamaican team in 2004 (1 in the 400m and the 2nd in the 400m HH). So getting that out the way, yes, I wouldn't "argue" unless I actually felt that I knew what I was talking about. But thanks again for your imput.

:wow: I'll take this ether like a man.

But I still don't think it's natural to reach top speed after 50m; that's just part of the strategy for running the 100m. Like I'm an explosive starter; I have football speed. I'm one of those cats that can get up to full speed quick, stop on a dime, and then accelerate back to full speed again. Our coaches would endlessly work with us on our "drive phase" so we reached top speed between 40-60m, then we could run at top speed for about 20m, before we'd start decelerating and we'd just have to keep our form through the finish line. That's why 100m specialist run so many 150m and 200m to build that endurance for the 100m. I've had more success at the 60m than the 100m, and I'm always the lead-off leg on the 4 by 100m.

:manny: whatever tho. You said you ran the 400m and I ain't fukkin with that, so endurance in the 100m probably has no berring on you.

But I'll still dust yo' ass nikka :smugfavre:...... as long as it's 60m-100m :jawalrus:

It's all good man., I don't want any problems lol..I'm just saying, I'm no amateur...10 years retired. I'm a football dude first and foremost, my man BJ Lovett from Michigan State back in the day would tell you I'm a real n!gga on the field. My 55m/60y time was :win:.

But as a track dude as well, I always respected Deion and Hershel Walker...them cats were 4.2/40 10.2/100m runners...Kevin Jones also peaked in his senior year at like 10.2 FAT times. And those dudes are not professionally trained track runners, so I can only imagine how fast they would be if they had of been trained like Carl Lewis, Maurice Greene or Usain :wow:

Back in the day dudes like Laverneus Coles was a beast at FSU and supposedly running a 4.1...even when peter Warrick was the man and clockin 4.3s.

But there's a good reason why they call the 100m gold medalist the "fastest man in the world" and it's pretty much understood that within 100m you can hit top speed where the 55m/60y is really more of a start than anything...which is probably most important in football.

ive been searching for it for a long time. I cannot find it but believe me it happened. I didnt see it live, but the NFL Today crew (when James Brown and Terry Bradshaw were the hosts on CBS) showed a replay and were stunned themselves.

The only time I've ever seen Deion not catch someone was Tom Waddle, 1992 (or 1993, I'm getting old :pachaha:) on a deep post route at Soldier Field. Waddle beat him on the play and then Deion could not run him down. I'm still amazed by that.

tom has said alot that deion was comin from the otherside of the field..

TW: Well, it is. Technically it’s true, and it’s really the only picture I have in my office at home. It’s me crossing the goal line at Soldier Field and Deion is diving at me and swiping at my feet as I cross the goal line.

So, as I get older and years past, I kind of tell the story that I outran him, but the truth is that he was coming from the complete opposite side of the field (3).

:ehh: good to know there's another Track and Field head on this site. I actually played college football on scholarship, but our football coach let a handful of us run track because they needed sprinters (our track and field team was top 20, but it mostly specialized in middle-distance, long-distance, and field events). Suggest I run anything over 100m and I'm gonna hit somebody with the :childplease:. I'd run the 200m and be on the curve like :stylin:, and then look up and see I had 100m left...... :sadcam:

:ohhh: But I remember that nikka Kevin Jones and always wondered how Penn St. could let him leave the state like that :mindblown:. Dude's name even reached us down here in Texas

As far as these times, it's really hard to tell who runs what. Like every lil' high school RB in Texas supposedly runs in the 4.4s, but the average NFL RB time is like 4.56 at the Combine  There are a lot of mythical 40 times floating around that sound like pure ducktales.

I wish I could see a 100m dash between Deion, Bo Jackson, Darrell Green, Herschel Walker and some of them other cats....... I wouldn't know who to put money on :wow: I honestly can't see Deion losing to ANYBODY. It's like dude was always just as fast as he needed to be :whew:
