there's not cure for mental illness just management. part of understanding mental illness for everyone is learning this. it's not a disease where the medicine heals you.
the people who got Britney Spears lose from her guardian only to watch her malfunction didn't understand that
the people who think Orlando Brown will be saved by repeatedly getting saved in church don't understand that
the people who tried to get the childhood actor recently off the streets of Hollywood don't understand that.
the people who think Kanye will change really don't understand.
it's a tightrope walk for the rest of your life. falling off means mania or psychosis. on the flip side mental health practitioners treat patients like guinea pigs. scrips being tested on them constantly for kickbacks. people have to decide to try and live with medication. sometimes they get a false sense of recovery and independence. By the time they realize they are gone they are gone gone. see sawing thru life up and down. the shyt creeps on them constantly. try dating someone bipolar... another characteristic of mental illness is that it inherently makes the sufferer selfish. they are focused only on feeling better and escaping their predicament. so even if you love these people you will lose love for them in a fight because they can appear to be completely selfish, destructive and take a heavy emotional toll on your life. that's why they end up alone, family and friends run out of patience.
When Desiigner dropped panda and people were talking about his energy while he was rambling nonsense I was the first person to identify him as having mania (ghostface did a similar thing during his Supreme Clientele era suffering with Schizophrenia. Desiigner and Ghost have different strengths as mcs but they utilized a free form flow that is akin to the rambling crazy dude on a city block, the words had fluidity and vivid imagery but were also scattered and seemingly incoherent. it wasn't until desiigner got caught beating on his dikk on the plane before people realized he was a mental health case. Same with that internet character Boonk who was crashing out online, that was mania not his "energy".
I have been around many afflicted people enough to know when I see a mental health crisis. everything isn't entertainment. for a person like Delonte if you look back at a lot of his bad and risque decision making while in the league, that was his illness in effect. clouded judgement is a common issue. Sad as it is to watch people like this famous and none famous fail repeatedly and fall back down it is also a lesson for everyone on the nature of mental illness for people to learn its characteristics and how it is basically a chronic illness not a curable disease.
