No anyone who supports Newsom over Vance in the general election when those are the only two options definitionally want Republicans to lose
Shouldn't be the only two options unless democrats want to lose. How about we run and support better candidates? At this point everyone should be saying they refuse to vote for newsome so that doesn't happen

We’re talking in the general election not the primary
Good thing we're over two year away from a general election, so we can publicly voice our refusal to vote for him in the general so that we can avoid a disaster.

Nah, you can voice displeasure over Newsom without saying you won’t vote for him against Vance in a general election
Nope. It need to be actively and openly known how bad newsome is so that he doesn't win the primary. Everyone should be voicing their displeasure of him as a leading candidate

I usually side with you on things and in a perfect world we would have better candidates but if it’s him and Vance, gotta be Newsome all day. fukk all that non-voting business.

While not perfect, he could be electable and then we can take the Trump route, enjoy the W, and bring in a solid cabinet and people around him to help fix all this shyt.

I’m of the mindset that we shouldn’t even be floating Newsom as a potential candidate right now. My thought process is that we should be clear that he’s not someone we’d support. Politically, he’s positioned more to the center than many Democrats currently want, and he doesn’t match the moment or the kind of transformational candidate people are looking for. He’s publicly opposed to abolishing ICE, and he’s taken positions on immigration enforcement that many democrat pollsters strongly disagree with. Recently, he signaled he might veto California legislation aimed at limiting cooperation with ICE, which only reinforces that he’s not aligned with the direction many voters want. He might have made sense as a candidate in 2020, but 2028 is a very different landscape.

The problem is that the moral/grifting left are double downing on their stupidity and show they either have no understanding of institutional power or they don’t care about the ideology they claim to hold
Either you don’t need their votes so what they say doesn’t matter or you do need their votes so give them what they’re asking for :yeshrug:

What the fukk is "Chasity"?
Anyone who supports gavin newsom want republicans to win
Simply not true.
Good thing we're over two year away from a general election, so we can publicly voice our refusal to vote for him in the general so that we can avoid a disaster.
Who do you think has more juice than him right now?

We're past the point of floating. The ship has sailed.
he doesn’t match the moment
I think Newsome is a phony, a fraud, a scumbag, a political opportunist, and a corporatist shill. We are a nation in decline. Run of the mill libs don't want someone that's going to make their lives better they want a shythead of their own. They want to go to brunch again without having to think about ICE. That's what Newsome represents to them.

Think it's important to not just say Newsome is bad but present an alternative. You think it should be Pritzker? Buttigieg? McKinsey cia-plant. AOC? I don't think she has a chance. But the field is definitely Newsom and then everybody else right now. To say otherwise is to be in denial.

All that being said he has not done anything or said anything that makes me think I'll vote for him. If the Democrats and their most vocal supporters want success going forward they need to be elected on their merits not just "were not Trump/republican".

I’m genuinely trying to understand your position, what exactly is your ideological commitment to Israel? I’m not asking this to be a d*ck; it just seems inconsistent with the rest of your posts. You rarely discuss foreign policy, and you’ve mentioned before that you don’t really follow it closely.

So I’m curious: what are your reasons for supporting a relationship with Israel beyond the fact that it’s been the historical status quo?

I'm with you on all this, I've never like Gavin Newsom at any point in his career. But we are seeing a preview of how dangerous things can get on the ground with the wrong administration in place. People are literally getting shot in the head for exercising their rights, immigrants are being put in concentration camps, we are starting stupid conflicts, etc.

I hope we can all hold our noses and vote for alternatives to MAGA even if they are not our ideal candidates. We got lucky in a way that the incumbent is an idiot. JD Vance is not an idiot, I hope we can all recognize that threat.

he has no ideology. Unless its about Drake or Alabama football. He is completely unserious.

You're right

But @Loose is saying take in the other primary candidates. Do not anoint him or anyone as a front-runner two years before the first primary.

It’s way too early to be talking about who has more momentum. Whatever attention‑seeking moves Newsom makes in 2025–26 won’t matter once the midterms are over and primary season actually begins, when attack ads and opposition research start hitting. Winning hypothetical polls has never meant much: it usually just shows which establishment figure is getting early backing.
We're past the point of floating. The ship has sailed.
Unfortunately true
Simply not true.
Very true; Newsom is basically the perfect caricature of what right‑wing media and Fox News have spent years portraying Democrats as.
