The rock could easily put out a milquetoast statement to satisfy the news outlets bet hasn’t. He could easily put out a statement to score cheap points with his conservative fans but he hasn’t.

Newsom’s statement is probably phony because it wouldn’t surprise me if Newsom was a psychopath that doesn’t feel real empathy. If he didn’t experience real empathy it would make sense why his overreaction comes off as a massive miscalculation for his political future

Ha, I think that's a pretty generous interpretation to give towards a non-statement. I don't know whether he is a fan of Kirk or not, but given his, lets say, “incoherent” politics up to this point, I don't think it can be ruled out because of the absence of a statement saying he does. I have no doubt he’d much rather his movie do well than eulogize/admonish Kirk. So absent some kind of movement to boycott the movie (this is very much on the table) without him saying something, I doubt he will.

I mean, they the Administration is already actively implementing policies that violate the first amendment. This is beyond just "rhetoric", they are currently considering a new policy that will allow the State Department to revoke US passports of citizens who provide material support to "terrorist" (similar to what the UK is doing with supporters of Palestine action). And guess what, Marco Rubio gets to decide what constitutes a terrorist as well as what constitutes material support.

And shortsighted bigots like @Napoleon and @the cac mamba are ok with some of the authoritarian actions being taken against immigrants because they don't think it will ever affect citizens. Who could have seen it coming (except anyone with a brain)? Now they'll be coming for citizens too.
