Virginia is a major state and their governor and HoD races largely dictate how midterms go the following year.

It's hilarious how a few years ago when Youngkin was winning on an anti-tranny agenda, you were warning dems were in trouble. Now dems are winning there on a pro-tranny agenda and it's crickets.
VA elections are in off years.

Again, read the room on the trend on this issue.

You can’t keep ignoring this when it’s convenient.

She's not worse than Doug Mastriano, and yet you can't stop giving Shapiro credit for beating him.
i see his polling and approval, and i see Republicans saying things like "Shapiro could do well in a general, but thank god the Democrat base will never nominate a Jew because of Palestine". no one in '26 will have more momentum than Shapiro, after winning reelection in a major swing state

but hey, i'm sure Newsom is the way to go in '28, because he WILL beat the fukk outta any progressive contender. can't wait to defend San Francisco values in a presidential election :mjlol:

It is nearly impossible to follow your train of thought. Like, one thing is said to you and you make a huge and illogical jump to something that has nothing to do with what was said. Good luck with that.

In January, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Protecting Children From Chemical and Surgical Mutilation” giving the Department of Health and Human Services 90 days to produce a report on the best practices for treating young people who say their gender does not align with their birth sex.

Yes, really. Some Trump admin review is not new research. It's politically motivated garbage that does nothing to change the current medical consensus. Oh, and the best practices they came up with? Conversion therapy.

just my observations. which Democrat will have more momentum in 2027 than Shapiro, after winning reelection in PA?

newsom and pritzker, coming off :flabbynsick: term limit retirements? AOC, after winning her meaningless Bronx district again? Buttigieg, after announcing another gay adoption with his husband? Kamala, after reminding people that she lost to Trump? Mamdani, after failing to deliver on most of his promises? Bernie, on his third coronary?

if Ossoff wins reelection, i'd throw him in the mix. Gallego could be another dark horse

There's also a chance that the eventual nominee is not yet a national figure. November 2025 is way too early to be speculating about the 2028 nominee. We all have possibles in mind at this point (pretty much every THL poster is a political junkie), but we don't have any idea what the political/national mileu will look like three years from now.

this is bullshyt. we have some idea of what it will look like :dead: another Obama appearing out of nowhere is highly unlikely

the only people seriously pretending we don't know who the nominee is, are the progressives who are waiting around for some magic perfect candidate who will never materialize. and will then spend the election complaining about the choices, and eventually sit out the election because of Palestine

You’re lying about the developments in this topic in the US and Europe.

Britain bans puberty blockers for transgender minors

It’s likely democrats lose in 2028 regardless. I’m not convinced democrats win the midterms either.

Nope, I'm not lying. You're conflating politics with medicine. The UK didn't "ban" puberty blockers because of new science; it restricted them through the NHS *after* a politically motivated review that even its own authors admitted lacked long-term outcome data. Meanwhile, every major American medical association -- the AMA, AAP, APA, Endocrine Society, and WPATH -- still supports gender-affirming care as best practice when clinically appropriate.

The politically motivated shift in the UK doesn't invalidate decades of data. This is a moral panic dressed up as scientific revisionism and nothing more.

It's my fault for treating you like a serious person. Every time I give you the benefit of the doubt, you provide a response that reminds me why I shouldn't.
