Outside of both being white men, I have zero clue how Fetterman name keeps coming up. Seems to be a lazy argument randomly use by people to justify why one would left leaner white man is the same as the other. Fetterman actually had several glaring blindspots that people looked past before his stroke, such as his affinity for israel, his abuze of power as mayor, shotgun innocent and love for law enforcement. As far as Maine senate prospects, yes its impossible to find other candidates which is why platner ran in the first place so we wouldn't be stuck with Janet mills and her losing proposition like Sara gideon, Sheena bellows, Jean bright etc before her. The people who Maine seem to love him, national people should not be involved in this race. Let them handle it
who has more red flags? Platner or Jay Jones?

Isn’t this what the primaries are for?
My question is moreso why all of the Bernie left are unable to pivot off of platner to find someone else to run in the primary? It's basically a year away and you have Bernie, Krystal Ball, Kyle Kulinski, Emma Vigeland hitching to this guy despite red flags.

They don't want to support Mills or the other guy fine. I just have a hard time believing Platner is the hill to die on.

There is a primary next year. Other candidates could emerge. Do you have someone in mind? You are talking like you know of others yet you haven't named an alternative candidate to Plantar.

I think dude is an idiot, but you are acting like this is some Kamala Harris ‘24 or Joe Biden ‘20 moment when they were picked and the path was cleared. We haven’t seen anything yet.

I can’t imagine why :mjpls:

For the people of Maine not to care is one (expected) thing. For others outside of Maine though :mjpls:

Joe Biden, a segregationist who authored the anti-Black crime bill, was supported by the national party three times. As of now, Platner appears to be the candidate Maine wants—and the stronger candidate overall. If you believe there's someone better who truly represents Maine, now is the time to start pushing them. The primary season to find the best candidate to win Maine now.

It's mostly self-admitted establishment liberals who are mad too :russ:

It's only Coli shytlibs who act like this was a 4D chess move
Even centrists are mad, lol. Coli’s the only place where people still cape for weak leaders who actually have leverage. “Well, people didn’t vote last November!” Yeah? You’re really showing them why Democrats should have power—by doing nothing with it when they get it.

No. I don't live in Maine. I just see these people who are at the forefront of the progressive left hitching to him. I'm curious as to why they.... leading voices of that wing are all in on the dude? we can both agree he is an idiot. And by how they've hitched to him would they pivot to support a better candidate in their model. Meaning they've been all in on him. But if someone with even stronger progressive bona fides jumped in that race. Could/would these people who are at the forefront of the progressive left admit they jumped too early in going all in on Platner? And support the better progressive?

Certainly possible. That's why there is a primary.

Asking why leaders of a political movement are doing something is out of the question? So I shouldn't question Bernies thought process for boosting up another red flag person. Got it.

So if I listen to the majority report or breaking points I shouldn't question why a host who also doesn't live in that state is so hellbent on defending a person. I'm the crazy one for that. Got it.

We'll just have to see that play I guess.

Me either. He hasn't talked about any plans for the future just anti Trump stuff. Only goes so far for a lame duck president, before people actually look at his record as governor which is piss poor.

Why would he lay out a platform and agenda in 2025?

Not to mention, it isn't smart to talk about a future platform with so much going on today.
