I wanna know how tf 3 out of 10 democratic voters DO think the Dems are doing enough to oppose Trump :dahell:
because they realize that the Dems got their asses kicked in November :yeshrug: they're out of power. it is what it is

what exactly did Republicans do in 2021, to "fight", that you wish the Dems were doing now? i'd love someone to answer this question

Imagine if progressives would have pushed a candidate instead of pushing uncommitted and a performative protest vote.

They may have had a chance at getting a convention or mini primary and get their candidate on the ballot when Biden stepped down.

:wow:

the fact that they can't put forth a single realistic name for 2028 is less than promising :mjlol:

no one's saying you have to commit to anything....but to not be able to name a SINGLE plausible candidate? Centrist Voltron is more powerful than we thought :banderas:

Wild times.

I'd like to think they'd have someone to replace the Senator from NYC

California residents seem to feel he's doing a fairly good job

Your critique is reactionary and emotional. But I believe he's going to be the Dem nominee and president for the following tangible reasons mixed with my opinion:

- He's a moderate who can lean left when needed
- He's young and not of the establishment
- He will bring a significant donor base along with him - allowing the party to get more creative his campaign and messaging
- He stepped up and demonstrated leadership through some of the worst wild fires California has ever seen with little to no help from the federal government because he's on oval office sh*t list
- He has been able to address core state issues in public education spending, health and wildfire protections in turning the states budget around
- Homelessness was problem when he became governor and has increased a lot due to affordability, if Senate Bill 79 sees any moderate success he'll be able to point to that and several of the other bills he's signed to ease building restrictions.
- At the end of the day neither is an issue that can be fixed in 8 years - true all of his efforts have yielded next to no decreases, he has documented attempts at tackling the problem
- He will be able to point to managing world's fifth-largest economy. I'm sure his team will spin how that scale is comparable to issues we see nationwide and how his successes make him qualified to manage it
- Getting in front of the 2 largest hispanic populations in the nation is a smart strategic move
- Yes, he is the only Dem actively battling with the Trump - people will remember that
- My opinion is that he would be able to tap a diverse in thought and policy cabinet - which could ultimately be his strength
In this list, the only thing he has done well is manage the aftermath of the wildfires. Everything else is maybes or could haves or just abouts.

Why do you think he will be the next president? What is convincing about him?

Especially in this moment when voters don't want more of the same from either party.

(Keep in mind, he has been groomed to be POTUS for nearly 20 years)

To add to what I said, there is a reason why we are going back and forth between the parties. Neither party has interest in the upheaval this nation wants. Obama had the chance in 2008, and he decided to bailout Wall Street and banks instead of people who needed it.

Trump had a neocon first term and then people are yelling they don't want a gestapo if it means a shyt economy.

Newsom isn't offering anything different.

he's the executive of a hugely important state, despite its shortcomings. he's experienced, he'll be running on the standard Dem platform (progressives want to pretend it's gonna hugely differ between candidates, but it won't) . he'll do well with white women and hispanics. and he plays the part well, no one would have a hard time imagining a president Newsom. he's absolutely a credible presidential candidate
