Democrats are in a tough spot because the general public think the democrats have gone too far left (due to the progressives being the face of the party in the public square, not the policy making square) and progressives thinking the party isn’t left enough.

This push and pull dynamic is what makes the party unpopular, the catch 22 is if Democrats continue to go too the left without pragmatism they’ll continue to alienate people who don’t buy into the BS.
