All in all I think it's a discussion worth having.
I agree. I'm as staunchly pro 2A as you can be, but I'm not going to stand with my fingers in my ears and try to pretend there's not a problem. I think the biggest sticking point for me is that whenever any new legislation is proposed it either doesn't solve anything at all and is just a feel good measure, or goes way too far, like the bill my state passed in '13.All in all I think it's a discussion worth having.
I came in to write this exact same thing.im a gun owner and i dont have any problem with background checks/ bans for certain felonies * esp domestic violence / initial waiting period
/trigger locks/ gun safes required in homes with children
what i would like the Dems to do is change the framing of the argument
-support hunters and sport shooters
-work to publicize all of the NRA safety rules and reccomendations
-emphasis gun training and safety

Ohh he thought he was going to be able to pull a gotcha moment and prove you are uniformed but you served him .The transaction record is not a background check.
we're just kinda limited by the constitution at this point. This is going nowhere other than Internet forums.
