Considering he's still young and developing than I don't think this is a bad deal at all. And if he puts up a solid double double it wouldn't be hard to see some team potentially offering him a max contract. So Utah was kind of smart to lock him up ahead of time.

tremont brought up Joakim Noah earlier, who had similar issues.

His first year he had a foul rate of 5.4 per 48 playing 21 mpg

Second year 5.9 playing 24

Third year 4.9 playing 30

Last year he was at 3.7 playing 37

If his IQ is there, he'll be alright. When you know you're playing more minutes, you play smarter, you're not taking as many risks.

it's not a good deal.

It's not a good deal, it's a great one for Utah. Honestly I think he is slightly overpaid for the first year or two of the deal. If they waited until after the season & he put up 17 pts, 9 rebs, & 2 blks a game they would be paying even more. It doesn't fukk up their cap until possibaly the 3rd or 4th year.

They had to pay the general big man premium where their all payed more than their really worth, but in a couple seasons he should be worth it. Utah has a bunch of young guys who they hope will develop over the next couple years together & if stuff goes right they sould be back in the playoffs in 2 years. They will be bad this year get a good pick in a great draft & have Favors, Kanter, & Heyward as their main pieces with guys like Burke, Burks, Gobert, & whoever they get in this draft as the other guys.

The problem is they could end up like OKC & all their guys develop enough that they can't keep everyone.

Its a good deal for Utah...IF he does what everyone thinks he can as a starter it'll be a GREAT deal for them..Utah is going to a lot better with him and Kanter starting...

Burke/Burks/Hayward/Kanter/Favors is a good core. They're just extremely young and inexperienced. Get Wiggins or Parker and either Kanter/ Burks becomes your 6th man.
