They are a must. Saving kids from themselves

It’s also because the pandemic crime surge made a lot cities move to much more sensible crime enforcement policies instead of listening to criminal justice warriors that disregard victims and prioritize criminals

Curfew's will force families to spend more time with their bad ass kids and get to know them better..

You never went to a house party and walked home with your friends or chilled outside your peoples house at 17? This is the city we’re talking about not the suburbs.

I agree with that. They said ages 16-17 have to be in by 11 though. I’m not saying they should do away with it but I hope they use some discernment. They shouldn’t harass 16-17 year olds just walking home or hanging out in front of their own house during the summer. Y’all forget what it was like to be a kid sometimes.

I did everything you are posting about at that age on a city with a curfew

Above the fray.
What if they’re just walking home from a house party. At 17 it wasn’t every night but especially on the weekends it wouldn’t be crazy to be out past 11 at your peoples house if they live close or at a party
Once the curfew goes into effect, kids either follow the rules or suffer the consequences.

If law enforcement didnt announce the curfew and just started stopping and detaining teens, what you said would be a valid question. But the rollout will be publicized across the news and social media, and parents and kids have to adjust to the rules .

That’s fair but what are the consequences you know what I mean. Like a verbal warning, ticket, or are they trying to arrest kids?

The post in OP says that fines will be part of the enforcement, but here is the full announcement from city officials

I see that you list your location as Jersey. As you know, several towns imposed curfews the past few years, for the same reasons. If parents cant control the behavior of the children, the state has to do it.

What if they homeless and the shelter got no room? They got a reason to stop anybody that is young now. Imagine being 18-20 walking to the store and getting pulled over :gucci:
I don’t feel like the curfew rule would be this dystopian. They’re not just gonna beat on any kid that’s outside.

Exactly and that’s why I’m talking about it because they have these laws in Jersey. I have nephews in Carteret that have been harassed by cops just for being outside of their own house. Good kids not into anything but they have friends that literally live around the corner and you have police rolling up on them questioning them like criminals. I’m not against police doing their job but y’all have to remember there are dikkhead police out there looking for any excuse to hem somebody up especially young black men. All I said was I hope they use discernment.

Devils night? Ima have to look in to that.

Also, you’re just a towel!

I heard of it in The Crow, and it was based in Detriot.
Never knew Devils Night was a real thing.

Devil's Night was the night before Halloween every year in Detroit. The teens would go around looking for bandos and derelict property and set it on fire. Beyond just the destruction, it made it so entire neighborhoods got instantly blighted. Not to mention the danger to adjacent homes. The city then instituted Angel's Night which basically became a city-wide neighborhood watch and after about a year it flat out stopped.

I agree with that. They said ages 16-17 have to be in by 11 though. I’m not saying they should do away with it but I hope they use some discernment. The Detroit police have almost never ran up on people chilling at their own house unless they were fighting or clogging the street and got called. Personally, I'm with curfew. I been a 17 year old in the city, and let me tell you...until a movies or a the new Cosm comes downtown...there's really not shyt to be doing at 10pm on a Wednesday for a kid.

Even when we had arcades and stuff, minors without guardians had to go home at 11. Flat out.
