Did Biggie "freestyle" most of Ready To Die?

The reciting verses in your head rather than writing it down is cool, but I don't see the point to it lol. You're just making things harder on yourself. :lolbron:

I used to do it when I was younger 'writing' poems and shyt. The main reasons being that I would do it while in bed trying to fall asleep. Writing it down would've defeated the purpose. And another reason was that I could just go. I didn't have to look at lines or count words. It could just flow naturally without restrictions

You absolutely right breh, he basically did the song over when he was speaking of it to his ppl.

Imagine big writing Hollywood scripts my man would of killed Hollywood.

No, he seen jigga do the same as he did when they did "i love the dough" and was shocked like oh u do it too. Or the opposite jigga seen him do it too.

Dude perfected his flow on his 1st album :wow:

Rare nowadays even with the new kids out now.
Yeah nikkas bleed is as dope as a scorcese flick.
But I disagree on one point .his flow on first album was flawless but he tapped into a higher level on lad

yeah, Jay-Z really writes most of his rhymes in his head which i think is amazing. I heard Timbaland say in that Fade To Black documentary that Jay-Z could keep like 30 rhymes in his head witouth forgetting one. If that don't make you a great MC i don't know what is. Although im not sure if i should believe that.

Yes... i always believed that he wasnt necessarily "freestyling" (randomly creating new rhymes of the top of his head)
But I could tell he was piecing memorized lines together...
he wasnt sitting down formulating them verses originally for a specific beat,
This is why I pretty much never luvd Ready to die... Being from da Stuy I luvd biggie, who he was and what he represented. But i was heavy on queens rappers, Shalen nikkaz, AZ... Even Snoop, Kurupt... guys I felt were just better studio rappers...
Life After Death Album... was a complete change in what Big was doing... you can see that he actually sat down, thought about the flow he would use, chose better words. Switched up flows.
That 1 album damn near made him the best rapper at the time...
Ill give an example.... there was no way Biggie could have done a song like Notorious Thugs back with Ready to Die.
He didnt understand the nuances of being a studio rapper

There’s no purpose if you have the time to write it down. But if you’re out there hustling or working to get paper before you actually make money in the industry, what choice do you really got? :yeshrug:

Obviously in today’s era you can just spit that shyt into your cell phone and never need a pen or a paper.

Word. People don't have to memorize as much as they did back in the day.
Also a lot of Information can just be searched on the internet and on cellphones now. If you forget something about a certain subject you can google it again now and don't have to go to the library first or buy all kinds of magazines.
I got all my information on making music from the internet. I grew up with it. Internet made a lot of things in life easier i think. It also made people lazier probably.
