I can't believe nikkas left the theater like "Helped a crazy white man blow up a bunch of Africans and steal their resources, shot his girl, choked an old black woman, slit a woman's throat and tried to kill a little girl, tried to send a bunch of weapons out into the world that could easily be corrupted? THAT WAS MY HERO! THE REAL KING"

Killmonger was charismatic and said alot of good and true things but he was out of his mind and using a real plight as a justification for his revenge plot. He was beyond just trying to liberate black people.

Quoted for emphasis.

Killamonger was NOT for black people. He was for HIMSELF. Everyone else was disposable & your synopsis of his actions, AGAINST OTHER BLACK PEOPLE, proves that.

except the movie didn't paint black liberation as villainous. it showed how a power hungry villain, killmonger, prepared his whole life to settle a personal score and reshape the world as he saw fit. this dumbass tweet wants us to believe killmonger was the film version of frederick douglas or marcus garvey. :mjlol:

it also completely ignores that there were wakandan operatives, like nakia - lupita's character, fighting for real liberation and trying to convince/coerce wakandan leadership out of their non-interventionist world stance.

it's a movie with a shytload of black excellence. but always some annoying people on social media trying to get a rep or steal shine by being a contrarian or pushing something negative. :aicmon:

I don't see the issue with that scene. These were poor kids from the projects, if a ship landed in their neighborhood you dam right they would try and take it apart and sell it. Maybe it's too raw, but let's not act like it ain't true

I figured joyridin would be the first response.

I see people assuming Killmonger was homophobic. Was there any hint of that in the movie?

As King he was well within his right to change the laws of the land, the old black woman backtalked him so he made her get in line.

Its funny because Killmonger won the fight fair and square, and even after he won he still listened to the advisers of the land and allowed them to have their say. He did not attack the Dora Milaje until they attacked him first, so it would have been all ok for the Dora Milaje to kill him but because he killed one of em.

Tried to kill a little girl? So he should have just taken shuri blasts and not do anything? :camby:

He was putting the weapons into the hands of wakandan spies who would have used ti to strike the heart of white supremacy

I guess you missed the part where he said, anyone that doesn't go along with his plan kill them and their kids.
