He did live up to his full potential...He was a very limited lane rapper...What he did best was the star, moons, Egypt, number seven, I am a god rap...That is Rakim...
..

You are so wrong here that it's crazy.

And the Ra/Dre thing was never going to work. Ra is obviously on his own time and Dre is always pushing...different worlds that were never going to be able to coexist long term...

I'm still :to: over this

The Dre produced Rakim album was one of my all time anticipated albums, then he leaves and album and never comes out, and it was finished :damn:

nikkas forget this was when every beat Dre put out was heat :wow: he was still on his 2001 grove :ohlawd: I don't give a fukk what stubborn ass rakim says, he should have put out the album as Dre wanted it then walked away

***snorts 3828seconds***

funny DJ Quik got 2 nikkas that was shelved put em together for their biggest hit while on aftermath, and the beat was originally for MC Lyte

Dre should have signed Quik and let him handle rakim's album, only reason Truth even got daylight was because of Quik, the watcher didnt have the same buzz as addictive

I believe he did mismanage him yes, he wanted him to do gangsta rap but Ra didn't have to do that. You have one of the greatest Hip Hop artists in your hands, let him do him, help and guide but he ain't a gangsta rapper. If Seventh Seal lyrics was on Dre beats people would of liked it and it would have sold well too.

Can't call Ra a let down because he remains one of the greatest of all time. However I understand the sentiment it would be nice to have more albums than we do, after the Eric B split we only have 3 albums and that's a shame.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..

Ra moved out to LA and everything..Dre wanted Ra to have an image he didn't want.. Also.. It was mad hard for Ra to get Dre in the studio..Dre was always busy doing everything BUT music..Ra eventually said fukk it this ain't gonna work out..and that's the end of it..

He did live up to his full potential...He was a very limited lane rapper...What he did best was the star, moons, Egypt, number seven, I am a god rap...That is Rakim...

Dre wanted him to bring it back to Earth, and he couldn't, because that's not Rakim....He is the reason why 2Pac followed the KRS 1 and Ice Cube school of rapping...2Pac didn't want to be "super lyrical" or should use Coli terms and say "technical lyricist"...hahaha...2Pac wanted to directly speak to his audience, in terms that they could understand...

Dre wanted Rakim to do the same, be more like KRS 1, Ice Cube, 2Pac and Scarface...You can still "resurrect" people taking this approach, and you will be making Dre and Iovine boat loads of money in the process i.e. WIN WIN situation...

But Rakim does not have the skill set to walk down that lane...

Rakim's full potential is Canibus, and we know what happened to him...

You can't be serious with this? Have you even heard Seventh Seal? Rakim does a lot more than what you say. That's absolute craziness.
