I am stating FACTS...You are using a lot of words by NOT stating anything...

Where was Rakim when the Wu Tang, 2Pac, Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie and etc were doing their thing...?

Rakim was in his mid-to-late 20s in the GREATEST era of hip hop...He had no excuse for being irrelevant...

Dude is the Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill and soon to be D Rose category...He is NOT up there with the Birds Magic Jordan Kobe and LeBron category...

just admit you did not know,....that albums came out every two years at the bare minimum then.
next,..you are trying to judge rakim on post 2003 mixtape oversaturated era method of making records.
further showing you don't know what the fukk you are talembout.

now,...when wutang, pac, nas, mobb deep and biggie were debuting in late 91-mid 92.
respectfully on:

wu : protect ya neck white label late 91-early92
pac : movie money debut with digital, Brenda's got a baby in 91-92
nas : live at the bbq, main source breaking atoms
snoop : deep cover first recording late 91, before the remastered remix
biggie : dreams and Mary's remix album in 91-92

ra was making one of the culture's definitive records about the ghetto, and the argueably the second best girl record in rap history in mahogany.

after that....
ra had argueably the best lead single for a movie soundtrack in raphistory in know the ledge..
which was the flagship for one of hiphop's definitive films.
you do know,...ra also had a high rating based album in don't sweat the technique in 93.

that predated the first debut albums of ;

mobb
wu
nas
snoop

so what the fukk are you talembout.....

you really just typing a bunch of bullshyt, to try to create a controversy.
yet, you know no facts, and no historical or cultural relevance as far as hiphop is concerned.

you are not fooling anyone, who is a real bboy.

I thought it was Masta Ace..why would Juice write summertime since he was irrelevant at that time

at that time, juice was cali's best actual grassroots emcee.
soon to come back to the chi, and dominate it just as he did the cali underground.

If you have an opinion state it...Unlike many people of this forum, I am always willing to change my stance when presented with a good argument...

I don't like Rakim's music, and I don't think I ever will (mainly because 80's beats and flows were still generic and mediocre), but I don't like Eminem's and Jay Z's music either, but I have enough sense to include them, and I think they should be included, in any Top 10 list...

Despite the fact that I am not a Rakim fan, I don't think I am "hating" or being "ignorant" when I say dude does NOT deserve a Top 10 spot hip hop...

One objective criteria we can use to measure GOAT status is longevity...Rakim doesn't have it...He had a spark when he started, and when hip hop got REALLY good and stylistically diverse, he fizzled out...(FACT)...

Rakim is a pioneer...Historically, one of the most influential flows in hiphop, but being a pioneer does not mean you GOAT status...In that case, the first dude to ever spit bars on record, should be considered GOAT too...I don't even know who that dude was...And I am not alone..

Rakim is Top 20...That's what his pioneer status grants him...

Comparing Rakim to 2Pac, Jay Z, members of the Wu and etc is not like comparing Kobe to Jordan, Magic and Bird and etc...Jordan had to pass the torch because he was just physically too old to compete...

Rakim is in the same age cohort as 2Pac, Jay Z, Krs 1, Ice Cube, Wu members and most of the legends of the 90's...The fact that he was already IRRELEVANT in the 90's, being called an "old school rapper" should heavily be weighed against his GOAT status...

The more I think about it the more I am convinced...My brothers were talking about Rakim like he was an ancient extinct dinosaur, but dude is only 3 years older than 2Pac...Think about that...I should be able to listen to Rakim the same way as I listen to 2Pac, Mobb Deep and Nas...

87-90 he was fukkin with warren, nate and mc eiht

90-91 - 1/2 dead warren snoop and nate were in on the sessions for nikkaz4life

91 suge doc dre bring in the convicts (3-2, big mike), they record with snoop since they live together

they put out undergrounds with everybody on them

snoop got a lil buzz dre then takes him under his wing 187 and the songs i posted were all recorded in the same time frame with dre and choclair

1991 snoop was on deck to drop a solo in between snoop ended up gettin locked up, snoop get out he serious about his shyt

1992 dre went back and they redid 187 into what we know now as deep cover

rakim did not write summertime.
juice wrote summertime.

art barr
that's why i said supposedly writing it, the rumor is that Ra wrote it, but i've seen you say on several occasions that Juice wrote it. the fact that most people believe Rakim wrote it adds more to his legacy than Juice's
