Oscar was way past his prime at that point & Margarito beat an undefeated & heralded Cotto
Your timeline is off. This all started back when Zab lost to Baldomir.

Floyd wanted all the belts for leverage, Arum wanted him to fight Margarito to keep things in-house. Floyd said can you get me the Oscar fight? Arum said no. Floyd then fights and beats Oscar, Making $20 million instead of like $7 million for Margarito. Margarito loses to Paul Williams.

By the time Margarito fought Cotto, Floyd was inactive.

u have your timelines all messed up
margarito cheated and beat cotto when floyd was retired. by the time floyd came back, cheato was exposed for cheating and had been knocked out by mosley. not to mention he was suspended for a year for cheating.

he was "making smart business decisions"

if anything, you should feel dumb for fallin for bob arum's smear campaign lol
but if you wanna use bob arum quotes, than here you go

".
Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

so out of his own mouth, floyd has no problem fighting margarito for 8 mil, but wanted a commitment that arum would deliver on other fights with reasonable pay days, specifically the de la hoya fight.

arum said floyd aint worth the money and downplayed his stardom. same exact shyt is happening in 2022 with terrence crawford lol

floyd left and ended up fightin those same fighters for much bigger pay days.

yall get fooled so easily lol once arum saw that his duckin propoganda worked a little bit with margarito, he did same shyt wit pacquaio, and yall fell for it again lol

You're deflecting

The point I'm making is that there was demand for Floyd to fight Margarito...he didn't want to fight him

he was clearly flustered in his presence

it was a fight fans wanted to see

floyd had picks

it is what it is :yeshrug:

There was no demand. Arum just threw Margarito out there.

But even still, Floyd was willing to fight him, as long as Arum would make the ODH.

I lived it, there was def demand for it

Floyd made a career out of being selective at 147 & 154

he waited for guys to lose or show massive weakness

he was a businessman first & foremost

Bc lord knows we wanted to see him fight undefeated Cotto, prime Manny, Winky, Sergio Martinez, Paul Williams, Margarito, etc...

Boxing purists wanted to see all those fights

You might have lived it, but you didn't remember it.

There was no demand, it was just Top Rank trying to run interference. Margarito lost to Paul Williams the following year.

Hell Margarito lost like 4 or 5 fight. He wasn't even undefeated back then. :mjlol:

Only undefeated fighters deserve fights eh

:camby:

Margarito did lose but then he knocked out Cintron & then Cotto

I'm sure if I go into the HBO archives there's footage of jim lamprey discussing it

Floyd never fought guys when we wanted him to fight them at 140+

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
Don't know why the idea that Floyd ducked fighters bothers his fanboys so much and they're in denial about it.. Floyd had zero interest in being undisputed in any division.. Not knocking him for that because belts don't pay bills but it's obvious that there were other chanps IN HIS DIVISION that was calling him out to unify and Floyd..:mjlol: at the idea that there was no demand for him vs Margarito.. after Floyd beat Baldomir 147 was on fire you had Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Williams at 147 and Floyd opted to retire instead.. Hw was supposed to fight Cotto at 147 not 154 years later.. Hatton at 140 for the LINEAL.. not at 147

Ya confusing ducking with being the biggest draw in boxing n not being able to fight everyone. When you are a draw like that it takes time and money to promote these fights hence why as his purses went up the #s of time a year he fought went down. :manny:

Even Canelo who is very active for a top draw fights 2 maybe 3 times a year. He gets the same "ducking" accusations if you fight fighter A you "ducking" fighter B. shyt is just hate. Anytime i hear "Floyd ducked xyz" i immediately tune that shyt out as hater talk.

If you ask your promoter to make a fight and he flat out tells you no, Why would you continue doing business with him?

That's not what ducking is.

And right after he beat Cotto, he was KO'd by Mosley. and was caught using illegal wraps.

Dude was a Top Rank hype job.
