Thank you south (bass guitar & drum patterns)
Thank you west (synth & funk infusion)
Thank you mid-west (melody & double time flow)

hip-hop is not reggae and America is huge comparatively speaking so hip-hop is better for its reach/iterations outside of NYC

How are the songs you named iconic especially in comparison to the albums that were listed?

Subjectivity.

And to be frank, I named those songs after someone else listed "The Cool" as a contender for an iconic hip-hop album.

I may not 100% agree with breh, but I also can't deny what he may view as iconic. It really sounds to me like that's what he views as an iconic album.

For example, one of the albums I listed were DS2.

What makes you think that 30 years after it's release (2045)...that album won't be seen as an iconic album? One that may very well have shaped the framework for not only rap, but even pop music RN and moving forward?

Breh, The Cool is nearly 20 years old. It would be iconic by now if in fact it were iconic. An iconic album is an album that even if you weren't fan of the artist or album, you'd recognize it as something held in high regard. The mention of Illmatic or even seeing the album cover or mentioning one of the songs and people know what time it is.

We will have the discussion on DS2 when that time comes. I will concede that that one is iconic. The Cool? No.

When a region is on top who’s whole relationship to music and reason for listening is wheter or not it sounds good in a stripclub the music is gonna suffer.

Also the whole NY hiphop is overrated because it doesn’t sound good in a car thing is the stupidest sh1t I always hear on here

I never turned on a classic Nas Jay or Mobb Deep album in a car and said “you know this really doesn’t sound that good I need to throw on some Tela because the most important part of a hiphop song is heavy bass”

I respect your input breh

Especially when you said you consider DS2 to be iconic. Many others would dismiss it just because it isn't a traditional boom bap or g funk offering.

Says alot. Respect my G.

Those older NY songs sound better at a concert and those MCs deliver better performances.
