Your email to her was more unprofessional than anything she did. That 2nd email, you started the sentence with “So...”. The entire first sentence of that email is unprofessional.

You’re in no position to ultimatum them into giving you a job. What if she replied back with one sentence: “Okay, sorry it didn’t work out”. Now you done blew ya $hit trying to prove a point.

Its the issue of being late and not knowing about the delay/me emailing her in the afternoon to find out about it when you knew since that morning.

If it one or the other id be a little cautious but both?

I apologize. :yeshrug:

Like I said before she doesn't have to justify anything with you. You're lookin for a job, shes hiring, not the other way around.

You're not on the payroll, no contract. Therefore as harsh as this is going to sound, you are not a priority. She didn't need to drop everything and immediately call you or email you to keep you informed.

And thats fukked up. Trust me I know, I was 1 of 2 candidates that made it to the end out of like 400.
There were like 6 interviews, I made it to the end. They were like "we will make our decision then let you know!!!!"

That anticipation was murder. I think I waited 4 days til Friday at like 3pm, since they were government they would've been closed sat and Sunday and I would've died from anticipation.

I called them, let them know I was following up. Hadnt heard or gotten any emails. They said they'd call me back. They called back in like 3 minutes....said "we chose someone else"... I got the rejection email while I was talking to them on the phone :mjcry:

Crazy thing is, I applied same role, different city, they were on my dikk hard. They have me the job faster than I could accept it or process it. Now I work with that other agency and still see some of the same people that interviewed me and I'm like :youngsabo:.

I did get another huge job offer. I got the job, cause I interviewed in Nov and December. Just before they gave me an offer letter corporate stepped in and said " no hires or transfers until further notice" I know then cutbacks were coming. I wasn't anyone that was going to be affected but I got the job I had now and left that company.

Yup. It's not that one hand doesn't know what they other one is doing. Just during the back and forth something usually gets fumbled or the timing is off. For whatever reason the communication isn't there.

We are/were hiring. Internal positions, the monkey ass person took off the typing test for last round hires then posted it to the public :snoop: then this round which was for public candidate and of course open to internals they put the typing test as mandatory :snoop: so now people there 20 years have to complete a typing assessment just to change roles or switch departments.....:snoop:

Then they do shyt like only accept 5 people from the public and when it's all said and done only 1 makes it through the process, only to quit or fail training. Then they try to call other people back like "you still interested ?"
Or they tell internals, they can't keep the same hours and days off, planned vacation..then when the number of internals drops to like 1 or 2 they say ":whoa: OK OK OK, you can have the same days off and schedule" then the internals who backed out are like :martin:.
This......

Also, one manager giving a “verbal” offer AT the interview isn’t a commitment.

They probably gotta round table it w/ other managers and they still have to submit all that to HR and get it approved.

Not uncommon for managers to get put in their place by HR after an interview.

I’ve been in your situation tho. Did the interview rounds and I was driving home when they called and asked if I could TURN AROUND AND COME BACK and meet some head VP of the company.

He came and got me from security and took me up to his suite and all that. Told me I should expect to hear from them very soon. Weeks went by I called the HR chick that interviewed me and she hit me with the “oh, we meant to send the declination letter out, must’ve got lost in the shuffle”.

I was crushed. I know I killed that interview. All that to let you know I know the anger of having done everything right only to have THEM fumble on the 1 and now you’re back to the drawing board while they move on without you.

Just gotta pick ya self up and go on to the next....

If you didn’t have anything else lined up/ set in stone then yeah you played yourself, NOT BECAUSE of the email but because you didn’t give enough time to see it fully play out. As a potential employee, you have every right to withdraw yourself from consideration if you don’t like the vibe the company is giving during the interview phase. These jobs, especially STEM jobs, want to act like you should be grateful they gave you the opportunity. I was a microbiology major in college myself, and I work for a pharmaceutical company now so I got a jist of how they operate.

She found out that morning and didn’t tell you until you reached out to her that afternoon? Hmm:jbhmm:. But yeah. Don’t rescind yourself from consideration until AFTER you have another job.

I wouldn't waste time at this company because they sound supremely disorganized.

I had a company bring me in for 3 interviews in a week, the last interview being 4 hrs long

made me a verbal offer that Friday I accepted and said they will give me the final word the following Tuesday

Tuesday came, no email or phone call. Followed up on Wednesday with a email, nothing. Then Thursday with a Voicemail. nothing. After that I decided I can't work at a company that would renege on their word like that.

Never heard from them to this Day to this DAY
:mjcry: Why I had to read this right now. This sounds like what I'm going through right now except instead of 3 interviews in a week it was 3 interviews over the last month (one every week). They told me they'd get back to me in a week which was last week and I haven't heard from them. I even emailed them.

You should've reworded the first sentence. You are right but it sounded way too informal/flippant.

It's the use of the word "So" that makes it sound passive aggressive/annoying.

Edit: Forgot to mention that this is to be expected when you work for local government. Never be surprised at the lack of professionalism you will see among SOME.

Soft shoeing.

You need to have a line when putting yourself in situations and ask yourself if it is an environment you want to put yourself in. The company doesn't respect your time and circumstances, so would they respect you need to develop.

U WERENT UNPROFESSIONAL, BUT THEY PROBABLY WONT LOOK AT YOU IF THE SPOT OPENS BACK UP

YOU FUCCED UP BY LEAVING A TIME LIMIT ..... U SHOULD ALWAYS LEAVE DOORS AS OPEN AS POSSIBLE SO YOU CAN CLOSE THEM ON YOUR TERMS DEFINITIVELY.

Yeah the more I think about it the more im see it was over before I even sent that email.

When I was in charge of hiring at previous job we allways had to talk to the high ups to get it approved. They had to look at budgets, hours, and anything that could get in the way of hiring.

Theres no way that she couldnt of known about a hiring delay.

I get there being situations about being right and still being wrong but idk if this was one of those situations.

Those that said I was emotional yall was right and I felt the same way when I wrote it and it was out of character.

There was something that I couldnt just brush off about this one though something that was out of character for me as well.

But I definitely appreciate all the help.

That sounds like it would've been a horrible place to work at. They would probably be just as lackadaisical when it came time to give you a raise or a promotion. Imagine being stuck there for an x amount of years where they obviously don't value the time and effort of others. You dodged a bullet son.

Is this the only job you applied to?

Imagine sending a text like that to a girl who flaked on you. You think she'd still go out with you when she eventually wants some company?

That hiring freeze sounds like a lie though. Lets keep it 100
