He was a damn racist, are yall forgetting this:mindblown:

When he started the business it was probaly a place mostly frequented by italians, then black folks moved into the neighborhood and he was forced to serve us.....people of other races move business into our neoghborhoods by design and still hate us,but will take our money.

So how u think somebody who never planned on us being his primary customers felt:scust:?this movie is still wack to me...a buncha nikkas gettin all mad because a radio got smashed, when Sal just called them ******s a few seconds earlier and aint shyt pop off:mjpls:...but noooooo you cant smash his boombox, fukk outta here Spike:camby:
I didn't get the impression that Sal was racist.
:yeshrug:

Vito was racist. :francis:

But you're just bytching about Spike & the movie for some other shyt that you're perceiving.

The question is whether Sal should have put up a photo of a black celebrity. Just in case you forgot.

Obligated?

No of course not. Nor should he have caved to the whims of a screaming hotep.

HOWEVER, he lives in NYC in a black neighborhood. Meaning that vital figures of that neighborhood were probably black. That's who shoulda been on those walls.

And a picture of MLK up on the wall never offended nobody...period.

If someone opened a Pizzeria in my neighborhood and started putting up pictures of Colombian personalities, I'm avoiding that place like the plague.

I don't want to be pandered to.

If I want colombian, I'll go to a colombian restaurant.

If I want Italian I'll go to an Italian restaurant.

I don't expect a Peruvian restaurant to exalt colombian celebrities simply because it happens to be in a colombian neighborhood.

It was a good movie but the message was backwards.

I had a class where we had to watch this movie and do a report on it.

Nay. I don't think he was obligated too, it was his store and he put people up who were inspirational to him.
When you're in someone else's neighborhood, even if it's "your" shyt, you pay respect/homage to that neighborhood. But it's up to the people to check them on it (like they did in the movie). Too many other groups of people put their shyt up in Black neighborhoods, bleed the money from the communities, don't give shyt back, treat our people like criminals, wouldn't hire one of us if their life depended on it, and then disrespect the shyt out of us. But it's not even something you can blame on them, we should've been starving them out like they'd do us.

Maybe he didn't want to.
I understand that.
I don't think he's obligated either.

BUT

If you're in a black neighborhood...a black community...if you have a sense of appreciation and connection to the people who frequent your establishment...and those people say "hey man, could you put up a picture of someone who represents your community?"...really...wtf is the harm in that?

What I'm saying is I would have put up the picture because it's such a tiny gesture in the grand scheme of things that goes a long way in the minds of others.

Obligated? No.
But when Sal stood in front of that destroyed pizzeria...looking at the end of his life's work and legacy and shyt....I bet he wishes he put up the picture.

So all it took was a little Fight The Power for him to start talking about jungle music and callin them ******s,but hes not racist:mjlol:

Not to mention he lets Mookie get called a ******.

But hey,i guess Mookie let himself get called a ****** all for a pizzaria salary:mjlol:...then had the nerve to throw a trash can at Sals place at the end:childplease:

Shoulda took off on Pinos ass earlier in the movie, and at the end shoulda threw a trash can at the police or himself for being apart of,and working for a racist establishment.

Sal is just cooo with racist, and drops racist language and n bombs, but he aint racist yall,he one of the good ones yall:whoa:.

I already answered the question,it didnt matter if he put up a picture if hes a racist and his partner is a even bigger outward piece of shyt racist.
