Ross' flow/breath control became more polished by DTR. By Teflon Don...it's night and day. That's him progressing as a rapper.
It's the same thing with The Game. Back in 2004, 2005, Game's flow was mad choppy. He stayed trying to fit alot of words into one line.
By LAX, his flow was perfect. Ironic considering that Documentary is his best album though.

I've always been more impressed with Wayne's improvement than Ross's. Wayne literally went from being the weak link in the Hot Boyz to killing the mixtape scene in the same decade

but those squad up tapes are mad overrated on here. nobody cared about them chits like that back then but tackheads. theres a reason why the original C1 was scrapped, and theres a reason why gillie clearly ghostwrote on a lot of the released version.

IMO Ross came into the game as a bit of a Jeezy-clone. Rapping very slowly and shyt. I do think he dumbed it down at the start of his artist career.
By the time he got to Maybach Music 1/Luxury Tax he was starting to find his groove. His own lane. His own sound and perfecting his "image".
I do think the whole CO/50 thing pushed him to be better.
He sounds like a different person on Hustling compared to Mafia Music II. He sounds like 10 years older, his voice sounds much deeper and more confident. His flow is more loose and he comes in and out of the pocket with ease. I don't know if he was trying to sound like Trick Daddy or extra southern on Hustlin' but the change is night and day..
