Broke nikkas in this thread are legit complaining that Diddy stopped them from pulling hoes in Jettas :snoop:

Hate on black millionaires wanting better for the culture brehs.

Hate on the person that signed Biggie and the Lox.

Hate on the dude that bought his own TV channel that shows hip-hop almost exclusively.

Some sad souls on this forum man.

as for the topic: he didnt try to put himself above anyone, even said he was guilty of it himself at times....just said it's getting out of control and that we need to recognize and work on that...i agree with the brotha.....

not getting in yall shyt, but the 2 things i bold are incorrect...

1) diddy did usher's first album...had him looking like a member of jodeci lol....jd didnt start working with usher till the 2nd album....

2) materialism has always been in hip-hop, since the beginning...people have always rhymed/bragged about owning the fliest shyt, living large, etc...exs: sugar hill gang talking about shyt they didnt even own; special ed 'i got it made', rappers and jewerly, etc....puff just continued with what was already there....

Al b sure, devante swing, and faith Evans did a lot of the production on that album and the album itself was considered a flop that almost got usher kicked off of LA face Records.

Diddy promoted image & record sales more than the actual artistry. With Diddy it was always about making money more than anything else. He heavily pushed the commercialization of hip hop.

again: that's not true....

1) puffy was a co-executive producer of the album...also, puff was the one that saved the album/usher at that time cause la was gonna drop him cause his voice changed before the album came out, and la didnt know what to do with him, so he sent usher to work with puff as a last resort...the album was not considered a flop, people just complained he was singing about shyt he shouldnt have been cause he was only a kid...

2) the promotion of image and sales has been going on in hip hop since the beginning, puff wasnt the first nor the last....as for him putting that over artistry, no, he didnt...there have been plenty that have tried to emulate the shyt he did to no avail...the reason being they werent as talented as the artists he had....he always made sure you had talent first, then he added to that talent to help put you over the top....he did his job lol...

Usher was LA reid`s artists and Jermaine Dupree was producing a lot of his hits.

Diddly had very little to do with that.

Aaliyah is r Kelly & timbo & Missy.

Noticed how I said diddy was more image than anything else. Never did I say just all about image, but it shows the lack of the reading comprehension skills.

Diddy definitely had a hand in the materialised culture in hip hop.

It's funny how a lot of you flip flopping nikkas will complain about the lack of quality & skill when it comes to hip hop only to turn around and praise a man partly responsible for the long term damage on the culture.
I Never said Aaliyah and Usher were under badboy, or ever Puff's artist.
I said he did alot of credited and uncredited work for them..
After the Kells situation, Aaliyah was black balled . the only then established producers willing to work with Aaliyah was J.D, Puffy, and Kay Gee from Naughty By Nature...
Tim and Missy at the time were unknown wild cards at Atlantic Record. working with Aaliyah actually was their big break.
Puff did alotta uncredited stuff for Aaliyah. Hence explained why she was always in Biggie's, Kims and Junior Mafia's videos.

With Usher, its well known Puffy AnR-ed and over saw the production for Usher's first album. How u don't know that, I don't know...

In short Puff has always been about talent... and image has always been apart of the music industry and rap well before Puff.

nikka's Diddy Bop everyday B

cam.png

Is this a young Camron? :ohhh:

of course not....but don't act like you don't know what Im talking about?....that nikka squeezed as much as he could out of that shyt....

Diddy put Biggie on the map anyway, he turned some fat ugly brooklyn drug dealer into the premier east coast artist. To my mind, he was entitled to all the royalties he could get.

Aaliyah called on Tim & Missy not the other way around.

Diddy did in fact push the importance of image & record sales. His motto was bigger is better. Artistry was not the primary objection of diddy`s vision.

Usher himself said the album was a flop. That was the whole reason why LA Reid was having doubts and ultimately sent him to jermaine Dupree.

Diddy was not about artistry first. Diddy wanted to make pop stars.

if the album was a flop, usher wouldve gotten dropped...i say that cause la was having doubts before the album, that's why he sent him to puffy in the first place...the album did just enough to keep him from getting dropped....after usher's mom helped get him a larger fan base, la sent him to jd next cause jd had more experience working with younger acts...

he wanted pop stars? lol if you say so...i know it's cool to wanna hate on puffy, but the man was damn good at his job....he took the talent and took it to another level.....all you have to do is look at acts work with/without him and you can see that...but it's whatever....

Biggie was going to be on the map regardless....his talent wasnt going to be overlooked.....what was fukked up is how Puffy pretty much got him killed for taking that trip to Cali....he shouldn't be entitled to shyt....

Puffy over saw the production for Usher's first album, and was credited for it.
He did the same for certain tracks on Aaliyah's second album, although he was uncredited.

U under the guise that Aaliyah was signed to Timbaland. When infact Timbaland was signed to Aaliyah's uncle label, BlackGround.
Neither Aaliyah or Timbaland/ Missy didn't call nobody...
Outside of KayGee from Naughty by Nature, J.D, and Puff. Aaliyah was struggling to find established writers, and established producers for her second album.
So she instead started working with unknown writers and producers at the time. one of them being "The Family" Missy, Tim, Ginuwine, Stattic, Magoo, Playa. Aaliyah and them clicked, and the rest was history. Aaliyah was their big break.

Puffy was all about talent first....

I like how he admits that he played a role in the direction hip hop has gone

i bet he regrets putting this out now though
