I'm responding to people in here saying that dirk should go elsewhere and get his bag, other GMs aren't gonna pay dirk "thank you" money for what he did in another city.

theres only a few other NBA teams that hes a legit starter on, at this point.

and the mavs been started rebuilding breh. and theyve done a pretty good job so far. they just didn't go in all-out tank mode.

besides, I'm sure Cuban is looking out for dirk.

There are NO teams where hes a legit star anymore....

WHy the fukk is Dirk only getting 5 Million a year for the next two years?

Dallas isn't competing for anything anytime soon. The least Cuban could have done is give Dirk a monster contract for his last two years.

This shyt makes no sense whatsoever...

then they'd be looking stupid like the lakers, who pretty much wasted a decade, catering to kobe Bryant.

and not only did they waste money giving kobe a "thank you" contract, but no stars wanted to go over there and play with him.

theyre doing the opposite in dallas. dirk knows what hes doing with these gestures, and other gestures like encouraging monte ellis to continue playing his game in dallas, and not to worry about changing up to fit in.

You should get paid what you're worth, unless you let someone sucker talk you into that team first mentality that only benefits the owner.

Btw if Cuban is paying him under the table is that illegal in any way? I think Cuban gonna pay him huge to be in the front office instead to make up for this.

but what is he worth?

I think some of yall might be getting caught up in his last couple all-star appearances, which were basically legacy votes.

yea that's what I meant by under the table. favors and such.
only real under-the-table dealing I remember was Kirilenko in Brooklyn. pretty obvious prokorov was paying him extra in overseas dollars.

agreed, but I said "starter" tho.

I could see dirk starting on bubble teams like Portland or maybe Utah. but whats the point? might as well stay put.

If he pays him an inflated salary after he takes a wink wink position with the Mavs after he's done playing, I dunno if you can get in trouble doing that.

:what:

Lakers went to 3 straight finals from 08-2010 and won two of them. They tried restructuring the team twice with moves that were initially praised by everyone before shyt went sideways (The Veto, Nash getting hurt, Dwight being a bytch).

Kobe signed his extension in 2013. So how does 2 years of a "thank you" contract that expired in 2016 amount to a decade wasted?

Yes, Dallas did the opposite, missed the playoffs twice, and have been knocked out of the first round 4 times since their championship run. They have been getting worse since Dirk took his first pay cut and they haven't been able to lure top free agents either.

So what exactly is the point of him taking a pay cut if the team is just treading water?

Another dumbass post about Kobe

we wasted a decade but our last title was less than a decade ago :mjlol:

"No one wanted to play with Kobe" yet only Bron and Melo were FA's during Kobe's contract, and they weren't coming to the Lakers regardless. Unless you want to bring up LMA, which means your reading comprehension is shot because LMA already explained his Laker meeting very clearly.

Name one player the Lakers couldn't afford because of Kobe's deal again?

They wasted money on they weren't gonna use anyway, but hey keep bytching about a player getting his full worth. Dirk took all this paycuts and Cuban hasn't shyt since 2011. But hey, let's act like Dirk is handling things better than Kobe:francis:

Because apparently if Kobe took less money and was a likable guy, Bron and Melo would've came here. and LMA. Or the 387949374937423 other max FA's that apparently were available at the time.

if anything Dirk is the example of why Kobe was right to take the retirement contract. Every move by Cuban has backfired.

Cuban lost DeAndre Jordan because of a fukking slumber party :mjlol:

That's the thing that NOBODY likes to talk about, Dallas hasn't been able to get a top tier free agent either. The best they could do in the past 7 years is Harrison Barnes, and they overpaid him after he fukking disappeared during the NBA Finals.

Yo this is old but check this out. Dirk passes up the most money in NBA HISTORY. YOU BIG DUMMY. Dirk Nowitzki Passes Up Most Money In NBA History

Dirk Nowitzki may have taken that discount to new levels Tuesday after signing a shockingly small $25 million, three-year contract to stay in Dallas for his 17th-19th NBA seasons.

Nowitzki had max contract offers from the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers of $97 million over four years but was reportedly never interested in any offers outside Dallas. Instead, the 12-time All-Star voluntarily took a 65 percent pay cut, leaving over $72 million on the table. Let that sink in for a moment. The money Nowitzki let slide is larger than all but the league's biggest contracts. Is this the biggest salary concession in league history?
