I'd rather build around Dirk, it's easier to find a defensive big that will hide his weaknesses than it is wing players that can close games late for KG.

Big Germ> KG

This is not true now and was not true when both players were in their prime. If you look at their careers as a whole, KG has put up 80 to 90 percent of the offensive production with 3x the defensive presence. Also, the "4th quarter disappearance" myth about KG is largely a myth. People just forget about his clutch shots and focus on the missed ones. I've seen him hit last second 3's to win games.

I also see Dirk as having MUCH better support during his prime. KG had wally szerbiak and anthony peeler? The wolves only had a decent team with old ass Spree and Cassell and they should have made the finals if they had stayed healthy.

Let's also not forget that DIRK missed game tying free throws in game 3 of the 2006 finals.

Your moving the goalpost. You said the reason they scored that much was was because of the Mavs defense and not because they were capable enough offensive players and that's not true. They had great series's... And they still got swept.

And no 2002 Nash/Finley are not better then 2008 Allen and Pierce. Plus Dirk in 03' got to the WCF with those guys which is about as Far as KG went in his Twolves career.

i'm saying the the Mavs would have been better with KG instead of Dirk because they would have been more commited to defense more so with KG as their leader instead of Dirk. and thats obvious.

2002 version of Steve Nash was better than 2008 version of Ray Allen and you would be crazy to think otherwise. Pierce might be slightly better than Finley but that doesnt overshadow that fact how much Nash was better than Ray Allen... not to mention that the Mavs had Nick on their squad too... much better than 2008 Rondo.

But he had Pierce to take the big shots down the stretch and be a go to guy, what Dirk did in 2011 offensively KG is not capable of it just was never his game

Gasol for the most part was unstoppable in the playoffs until he faced the Celtics in the Finals.

i'm sure nikkaz like you would be like "that that was just coincidence"

Let's also remember that Dirk used to consistently take a shyt on his teammates in games and in post game interviews.

KG was criticized for losing in the first round even as a lower seed. Dirk lost in the first round as a 1 seed.

How much better KG is as a defensive player far outweighs how marginally better Dirk is as an offensive player. Stop it...

KG's offense was good enough to lead the NBA in total points in 2004

Dirk's defense allowed easy buckets for the Kings when his team got his ass whopped in 5 in 2002

Looking at strictly stats in the nba isnt wise theyres guys who put up scoring numbers and you know can never be guys who could be a first option on a title team

Anyone with eyes knows KG never had Dirks offensive arsenal, what he did in 2011 with guys like Terry as his sidekick was insane and something KG wasnt capable of,its not a knock on KG it just wasnt his game to carry a team offensively on a legendary level like Dirk did in 2011

Youre rigth about the free throws but Dirk also hit an amazing fadeway at the end of game 5 that should have been a game winner if not for Bennet Salvatore/Wade mvp combo

How was he better? Ray Allen in 07' averaged 26/4/4 on his own team. The only reason his numbers went down in 08' was because he was jointing a team with 2 all nba players. And Pierce was clearly better then Finley.

Even then they were playing in a joke of a conference while Dirk was playing in a stacked west. The East had under 500 teams making the playoffs. The celtics in 08' faced a 37 win Hawks team in rd one and a 45 win Cavs teams with lebron and bums I the 2nd rd.

It's no contest. The Mavs would be better on D with KG, but they wouldn't be as good on offense because He is no Dirk. He simply can't score or command the attention on defense that Dirk does.

Because KG's entire career in Minny was losing in the first rd aside from 2004.
