A lot of these "luxury" complexes/buildings have to set aside a couple of "affordable" units (10-20 efficiencies on the 1st and 2nd floor, away from the main office, possibly having their own entrances for convenience. So developers only end up really building "luxury" places. My aunt lives in one actually. Upper West Side Address, East NY Prices...for like 10 years, cause they kept raising the rent...
If they was really building affordable/low income housing like that, we wouldn't really see the nation wide problems, IMO.
Somehow "market rate", "median income (top 50% and better)"...morphed into "luxury" and that "justified" the prices that are actually slightly above median - (which is low key for keep the Blacks out!)
