depends on what type of artist u r a nygga like chief keef should have stayed independent
If u dont get really big like drake its not worth it
and only a few nyggas are gonna get that big ever

Even Keef needed Major exposure...

He was getting $400 a show (like 3 shows a month) while "I Don't Like" was buzzing...

Interscope picks him up & just like that his price goes up to $2,000 a show & he was still getting booked 2-3 shows a month...

Without Interscope his buzzed would've fizzed out last year & would be worth less then what he is right now with a very unsuccessful career so far... :shaq:

This is how you can tell how a generational gap can create such delusional ass thinking.... them old dudes, came from a time where you did shyt on your own,and could get your music played on the radio just off the strength of word of mouth... the selling tapes out your trunk era.

i bet if you sat down and explained to Jazzy how Drake has full label backing, when he was "unsigned" and how his "bidding war" was just a buzz tactic.... he'd never be able to wrap his head around it.

Nope... I worked directly with cats who paid him for shows... nikka was doing shows for like $200 & $400 here & there... But cats love to pretend they are getting money for Public Perception purposes... them dudes were starving out here...

Even after the Interscope, Def Jam & Warner deals... these nikkas still can only afford to live at the crib with moms & grams...

Durk & Reese are both signed to Def Jam... a year later... with no release date in sight... let that sink in for a minute... :youngsabo:

Don't tell these cats anything breh, they truly in their hearts believe he would've been getting 10k a show, and could've sold 50k independently while being a regional artist who just happened to have a shytload of youtube views.

had he not signed that Interscope deal and capitalized off his buzz, he would've did Kreayshawn numbers.

If he choose to go indy NOW, he'd make a mufukkin killing off his album sales which is the biggest advantage of being indy.

:mjpls: Yea, he would have sold less than a 100,000 compare to selling back-to-back platinum albums if he had invested his time and money in the independent business. The independence business didn't help him get millions of dollars from endorsement that were offered to Drake by renown companies, and it didn't paid for his tour that help Drake to increase his money in his bank account. :usure:

Go Indy, brehs..

Keef wasn't exactly selling out House Of Blues when he started buzzing. An artist like him is considered a liability so this limits their choice of venues due to fear of insurance spikes should gang activity break out if you get what I'm saying...

There was actually an article somewhere on the Internet about some girl complaining that Keef was gonna do her birthday party or something for like $600 then when he got signed he told her his price went up to like $4,000... :whoo:

This was around his height...

It's kinda like how MGK swears he sells out shows across the US and has done over 200 shows... if you're selling out like that then it wouldn't be so hard to sell more then 150k units in 6 months. These dudes be frontin'... performing at little rinky dink clubs that people were gonna be at anyway & claiming they're getting paid thousands upon thousands when in reality they're barely seeing enough to sustain their lifestyle... not to mention the label takes their cuts & others on staff have to get paid as well like managers...

The industry is a lot of smoke & mirrors which is why I always tell cats to not believe shyt these dudes say until 5 years after their last album drops cuz that's when labels come for the I.O.U.'s once you're not worth anything anymore...

U do need record labels to get ur name all over the place. But if u want to make music u honestly love doing. Without compromising ur artistry then go indy. A lot of record labels force u to put out trash to top charts. That formula is wack now cause everybody is online. U may get radio hits and video play but aint nobody buyin shyt nowadays. U got a better chance at tours. Ofcourse its not easy and its hard work. I just prefer indy.
