Didn't even read half of what anyone wrote but this shyt right here made vlad seem like he would do anything for views. this is some shyt I expect from a coli poster to try and get some responses. Just dumb shyt. I feel kinda stupid even responding to his dumb ass video. The whole "Escobar" shyt that nobody can relate to? Lol.. The whole rap game was trying to relate to that type of era to include puff and biggie and nas made that shyt famous.. Study history

back in 96' it was written was viewed as a sell out album however with that said, it still was a great album and has some of nas' best songs on it

- the message
- take it in blood
- nas is coming
- suspect
- i gave you power
- watch dem nikkas
- black girl lost
- affirmative action
- if i ruled the world
- street dreams

no one ever wants to say this but i will, fukk it. nas stepped it up lyrically on it was written. now, i ain't sayin' it was written was better than illmatic because it's not, but it is a great album in it's own right and it's a classic in my book

a lot of nikkas don't think it was written is a classic because back in 96' and for some old nikkas today, it's viewed as nas' "sell out" album. he went commercial with that album however it's still a great album. but that album was like a slap in the face to nikkas who was on the nas illmatic wave/ wu shyt, mobb shyt strictly back then

remember, nas had the trackmasters do the most of the production on it was written. and, trackmasters back then alongside puffy was about as commercial you could get for production. now of course nas still had had hhavoc, dre and premier on there, but the trackmasters did the majority of it. i think the most thought that lyrically, nas was at his peak, but as far as the beats went and then nas's more extravagant flow is what produced the critics of him still to this day haven forgiven him for; makin' another illmatic

but on the real, nas really do got a solid catalog

illmatic, it was written, stillmatic, the lost tapes, god's son, street's disciple (this was good, fukk the hate), distant relatives, hip hop is dead, and life is good

oh yeah, untitled was good too

fukk the hate, nas really do got a good ass catalog. it's just illmatic set the bar so high that a lot of nikkas ain't never been able to get pass that shyt of him exactly like it again but most artist don't. but for what it's worth, nas' catalog is the shyt

Only hardcore backpacker Illmatic fans/critics didn't rock with IWW. The streets loved IWW. IWW even got the same rating as Reasonable Doubt, an album that's Jay's only claim to a classic, which noone considered until be cried for it to be seen as such.

You mean like how Nas fans have been crying non stop for IWW to be seen as a classic recently?Wanting to rewrite history:sas1:?

And don't get me wrong,I'm not against rewriting history if it makes sense, but lets not act like we not trying to rewrite it in this scenario....Its even worse than what Jay did....Because it aint like a large amount of people didn't get to hear IWW and made a decision in REAL TIME,it aint like it didn't have aaaall the hype and buildup going into it,to make that impact.

Matter of fact I take back what I said,I am against rewriting history in this scenario because IWW had everything it needed to be considered classic in REAL time if it was really a classic.

The difference is that, those are his fans, NOT Nas himself. Jay kept saying RD was classic until people believed it:lolbron:

Illmatic
Lost Tapes
Stillmatic

I think IWW is classic too but them other 3 tho, how can anyone deny them? If you wanna say "Illmatic" is Nas's only Best Album Ever Made In Music History candidate then okay.

I don't remember Jay campaigning his album as a classic, saying the people slept on his first album isn't campaigning for classic status, just a word to the wise to check it out:sas1:....And that thread?typical delusional east coast nikkas/backpackers who think it had to be popping everywhere, because it was poppin among they demographic or in they area....RD poppin:heh:?

Does Nas himself even believe iww is a classic, pretty sure I've heard him call Illmatic a classic, why not IWW.?
