I never said they define rock, but their fanbase is unlikely to call them wack after a bad album or two. People would still pay nice money to see them.

Which bands? Aerosmith, U2, RHCP, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi, Green Day and plenty of other bands from 80s to 90s still eat off that touring money. Imagine a Guns N Roses reunion, people would run to get them tickets. I'm not talking clubs, I'm talking venues. Now compare that to a Wu-Tang reunion and tell me if the outcome would be exactly the same.

Now you tell me who wants to go see Afrika Bambataa or Public Enemy to pack a stadium?

My point is that the entire mentality of rap fans is wrong. Sorry to say, but it's a culture that's dependent on trends and a rap artist can't rely on old fame as much as artists in other genres can.
I just gave you 5 artists from the 90s. Naming 5-6 from rock doesn't prove that there's a difference which I asked you to prove.
You can't compare people who sold 100 million in their prime with people like Bambataa who sold 300k.

I also asked you to consider the share and not the quantity.
Even now in its lowest period, rock outsells country and hiphop combined. Because there is a billion different bands.

So if 1% of rock can tour for 20 years that might be 30 bands while 1% of hiphop might be 1 artist.

The only problem I know with hiphop fans is that they are haters and dikkriding stans, just observe these corny ass Nas stans that have been hating on Jay for a decade cause he was competing with their favorite artist. Rock fans usually go and see mad different artsits, that's probably why they started festivals. While in hiphop a Jay-z stan might only see a Jay-z concert, but might not give two fukks about a wu-tang concert and vice versa. While from what I've observed, rock fans go and see any band that is considered great by the general population. And most of these artists lack haters as well.

It's getting harder and harder to reach rockstar status, to reach the 100 million in sales levels.
Which is why the amount of rock artists, reaching star status has declined heavily through the years. Who do you think from the 2000s will be able to replicate what any of the bands you mentioned did? The amount of different artists exhausting the market and the easy access to these artists have made it nearly impossible to reach rockstar status over a longer period, specially for rock artists which easily is the most congested market.

Btw Aerosmith and U2 are from the 60s and 70s respectively not late 80s/90s.

Rap is different tho to a certain extent. Look at a rapper like Jay Z for instance. 2013 Jay is not rapping to the same audience he was in 96. Basically to be uber successful in rap it almost requires that you "sell out" and market your music to the biggest buying demographic aka WHITE PPL. So in a sense a black artist will alienate his ORIGINAL fanbase once he inevitably goes POP chasing them dollars. So can u really blame a fan of REASONABLE DOUBT for not fukking with Jay after he made Kingdom Come??

Artists like Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones dont have this issue. They still making music for them same cacs that was supporting them from the get go. They never had to alienate their fanbases to accrue success because they already had the biggest buying demographic on their side.

There is nothing wrong with black hiphop fans, we just have to deal with white priviledge and those of u who downplay it when building a case against us and why we dont support our artists the same way whites do.

This is just sad. I couldn't even watch his performance at last years Rock The Bells. Dude was so fukked up and the corny nikkas in his entourage were acting like everything was just fine.

lol at DMX having millions in offshore accounts....there is very little to indicate anything of the sort, and PLENTY to indicate he is close to without any assets at this point.
