You're sorta overrating Shyne here broski. Shyne is average at best.

Id say both of em are about average,X got the slight edge as a emcee, but he never amazed me much in that department...both were just raw and said hard shyt.

But that Shyne album:whew:...better production, and just better songs...I can play it just about back to back...Puffy and his people really did they thing on that album

To me, DMX represented that real street, grimy, and raw music that comes up out of New York. IMO he was the last New York rapper to really come with that gritty and street New York sound. It ain't been a New York rapper since him to come with that New York street sound and style that only New Yorkers have. DMX was like the last of the mohicans, he was the last of era, brehs:

That first album is a classic, they don't make em' like that anymore. :whew:

its dark and hell is hot .. that album was phenomenal dude :to:

u aint a real fan of X till u read the book tho ...

Guess we gon pretend Shyne is really from Jerusalem now:mjpls:..I listened to Shynes first album more than DMX first two...I might catch heat but its a better album and has aged better imo....one day it will be acknowledged as a classic...but nikkas gon sleep for now I guess:manny:

Shynes first album is the GOAT, 2nd album is criminally underrated too

I like DMX but it's funny how his status in the game has changed throughout the years. Back in 2000, a thread like this in sohh would get hiphop heads really mad. DMX was fake rapper who want to be like 2pac, while rappers like Freddie Foxxx, mop, and cormega were the most lyrical and real rappers in the game.

Not to say these gay heads carry any weight, but I just find it funny how time keep changing fans perceptions of whats good and real.

I see a lotta bytch ass nikkaz in this thread talkin' shyt about DMX... Don't talk about X unless you was fukkin' with rap music since 97... Cuz he was the biggest rap artist till Eminem came n stole the shyt in 2000...

DMX ran shyt for me from 98 till 2000... Not even jay was as big as this nikka durin' those two years... X top 10 DOA

Nyggaz is trippin. X was not the only NY nygga spittin grime shyt. And this is comin from a nygga who has all of X's cd's except for the last 2. Yeah X was raw as fucc, he has 3 classic cd's IMO. But u can't sit up here and say that he was the only NY cat to be on some grimey street shyt.

Jada, Styles, Sticky Fingaz, Rae, Ghost, mobb deep, Cormega & Pap all had grimey street songs and or grimey albums/content. How can y'all just discredit those artist I listed and act like they weren't spittin that street shyt? :damn:
Not to mention Pun (and Joey too).
