Seems like in the UK, most blacks are either fully black or bi-racial (exceptions for Caribbean immigrants). In America, a black person might be "mostly" black at 75 to 85% black but with some random Asian, Native American or European mixture. It can throw off your features just a little bit. A darker skinned breh but has eyebrows and facial features like a white dude from Scotland. Snoop Dogg is fairly dark, but Charles Barkley is both blacker and whiter than him because Snoop is almost 1/4 Native American.

My experience is that Nigerians and Ghanians can be harder to distinguish from black Americans simply because so many black folks descend from ethnic groups in those regions. Other Africans are pretty noticeable, most of the time. East Africans whether Sudanese, Ethiopian etc., tend to stand out. Sene-Gambia region, stands out and southern Africans stand out as well, especially if they have the almond eyes and high cheekbones.

No they're not. The first picture you dismissed was dated 1671. It was entitled Indians of New Netherlands (which is modern day Massachusetts).

This wasn't somebody's guesswork. This was an eye witness drawing.

There was definitely some Pacific islanders that "looked" like black people that were native to the Americas regardless of whether or not they had anything to do with black Americans. It usually has to do with nose shape, face shape, and cheekbone structure. Those are the easiest tells - especially among men

East Africans are the easiest to identify - you see a dude with a big forehead, high cheekbones, skinny nose, brown to dark skin and a small chin, you know hes some kind of Horner off rip.
Mannerisms and gait play a role too, but those aren't really noticed consciously - just a mental flag goes up that "this nikka ain't from here"
