Do parents have a "favorite" child?

My brother is definitely the favorite. He gets treated like Jesus Christ. It's wild. I didn't recognize it messed me up. My mom didn't hide it either. It's a big part of why I hate him so much. We're like Cane and Able. If the purge was real one of us would have killed the other one. I used to idolize him. Then one day I hated him and wanted to be the opposite of him. I am and I'm happy about it.

We are just two totally different people... My mom is artistic and prissy (AKA)... Younger sister was a model and slays with creativity... So she is mom's favorite

I am a daddy's girl though... .... He and I would bond over sports... He would correct my jumpshot... Watch my track meets... Shuttle me back and forth to practice... He calls me just to talk baseball (he's a Mets man and I am Yankee pinstripes through me through)

He walked me down the aisle while my other siblings just eloped... He says my husband is his favorite while he cant stand my other siblings spouses ...

It's all about personality... Every child has their own personality and sometimes personalities don't mesh well

I might be my moms favorite by default just because of the amount of total fukkery my sisters have bestowed upon themselves over the years. It's like I never even got a chance to be a fukk up because they beat me to it.

In your case that is normal. People tend to enjoy the child that gave them the least stress. Now, I do believe that parents should try their best not to show who their favorite child is. All children should be loved equally by their parents. Have your sisters stopped their rebellious ways, or are they giving your mom more stress? I ask because someone I know was the child that gave their mother hell while the sister intelligent, just got her Phd, a homeowner, and business owner. Now he is trying to better his life and she always brings up the past and doesn't support him.

Everyone in my family likes my Sister more than me.

As far as my Parents are concerned each sibling (4) was probably "favorited" at one point or another but we were all raised pretty much the same.

I know I'm gonna probably favorite my first son a tad when I start having children, but that's because that little dude is gonna to be a KING

A little off topic but something like that could really destroy the psyche of a child, I don't even want to think about it.

doesn't destroy it, just builds it in a certain way. There are numerous things that mold who you are growing up. Not being the favorite is just one of them.

Yes, I'm the favorite and it's made me the narcissistic, self imploding, meddling person I am today.

I remember sneaking into my brothers room in the middle of the night and taking his bike. Never forget the rush of cold air on my face when I opened the front door and went joy riding. When I got back..my brother was sitting on the couch with tears in his eyes..I look up and see my dad with a belt in his hand..he ran to me and said "THANK GOD YOU'RE OK"


Bro got his bike taken cuz I took it out his room and 'almost risked my life.'

I'm not even gonna act like I don't know why most of my brothers hate to even deal with me till this day

My moms favorite is my oldest sister, my dads is my middle sister. I think I'm loved by both because I'm so much like each one, I'm the smartest and only boy.

Most parents have a favorite child. Good parents try to not make it obvious so as to not brew hostility between the siblings. Plus it's generally frowned upon

My sister barely graduated school, has had legal issues and works a dead end job. I graduated top of my class and am on a pretty straight and narrow path. It's kind of obvious which path a parent would prefer for their child, but if you asked her if she had a favorite my mom would deny it in a heartbeat

Parents have a favourite child. Siblings have a favourite sibling. Nephews have a favourite uncle, nieces a favourite aunty etc

My oldest brother is my father's favorite. Left my mother and me to go be with the woman he cheated on her with after he was born. Talking about how a "..son needs his father." I guess his then one-year-old daughter (me) didn't need one.

I'm my Mom's favorite tho.
