i think they're both in the highest level
GZA writes more intelligent lyrics. Nas writes more emotionally resonant lyrics.
Their styles are disparate, but I prefer GZA. He takes a scientific approach to every subject, whether it's the big bang or human nature.
Nas tends to take an emotional or sometimes ideological approach to his songs, which doesn't always work out because although he's a great poet, I don't think he's as intelligent as his peers like Jay, Prodigy, GZA etc.
You are aware GZA has multiple solo albums right? Lol. What are you talking about "He carries 16s here and there". Huh?Literally laugh out loud at some of these responses.
Nas carries albums. Gza carries 16's here n there.
But he's the more consistent one..coli will never disappoint with hyperbole.
Truth be told, during the Wu Era, a segment of the backpack crowd was feeling Deck more.
Don't respond back with bullshyt. I lived through it in real time

What does "the public didn't care about the those albums" have to do with who's the better lyricist? Your argument was GZA only needed to spit "16 bars here and there" when he has 6 solo projects. Whether or not fans cared bout them has literally zero relevancy to who the better lyricist is. Neither does the quality of the album overall because that includes beats, choruses, song structure, melodies and a lot that has nothing to do with the actual lyrics. If you think Nas is better (which I do as well), say that. But don't try to turn this into a popularity thing or say he didn't have to rap that often. That's corny and simply not true.Bro don't play stupid. You know damn well Liquid Swords is the only album the general public cared about. Beneath the Surface was lukewarm to aight.
Words from the Genius was strictly an east coast album. Nothing memorable
All biases aside, you know I'm not lying

Dude you're off the path...
Nas carried memorable albums. That matters
Impact of the lyrics matters.
The people caring about your work matters
If anyone is going to quote a gza lyric, it's likely a 16 from classic wu, or from Liquid Swords
I can play No Introduction right now for the 200th time n still get goosebumps
Gza can rhyme n is a lyricist no doubt. But not in Nas class. Nas can pick memorable lyrics from a much bigger pond. Nothing really controversial about that opinion
Bro don't play stupid. You know damn well Liquid Swords is the only the general public cared about.
It's all opinions of course, but Nas has an inconsistent discography. GZA has released less albums, but I think his mean average is stronger. For me Liquid Swords is better than any Nas album. Beneath the surface is high quality. Grandmasters is dope.
Nas has released more albums so he's made more good songs overall, but I like that GZA doesn't write weak material. He has quality control on his rhymes even if the projects themselves aren't perfect.
