Yeah so if you work as hard in your studies as athletes do to become professionals you should be able to make something of yourself. A lot of people didnt put in the effort to be successful at anything and then want to complain about how easy someone else has it, ignoring the hard work they did.

I get that shyt with the job I have. nikkas I'm in charge of talking about I have it easy and they wish they could have my job. Well what were you doing when I held down a full time job overnight doing manual labor then getting up and handling full time hours at one of the toughest engineering schools in the country? You were at home sleep, smoking, etc...

But I'm not talking about people who make it just by being 7ft tall. There aren't many Kwame Browns or Eddie Curries out there.
This is true but cats like that old iPhone commercial but instead of saying "there's an app for that" it's not "there's an excuse for that". Don't matter what it is dudes got 50'11 reasons why it won't work but probably tried 1 or less of the reasons.

Already came to that conclusion a long time ago. :old:
I wish I were a pro athlete. I wish I started in sports earlier. I wish I knew better. :piss: Sometimes, I even think I wish I were a pro league referee. At least they are making bank too. I should have got my foot in the door at refereeing low-level leagues and hustling my butt off in zero-payoff referee jobs.

I play hockey for fun, as in recreational leagues like recreational basketball leagues. To know that they are getting paid over a million a year to play is their reality. To see athletes with huge contracts go bankrupt is a joke. To see athletes make stupid decisions and get arrested is a joke. Some know what they have. Others don't, and they get a reality check after the fact.
:ohhh:

its much easier for rich people to go broke than it is for joe schmoes.

people get arrested everyday b. especially if youre young-n-black. you can literally get handcuffed just for walking to the store.

It's easy for people without financial budgeting discipline to go broke. That applies to rich, middle and poor. A lot of people who call in the Suze Orman show are middle-class smart people. She has to dish out the truth to some of these people, don't buy expensive clothes that is out of your income range. Stop spending $5 a coffee every day. Don't constantly go on vacations or buy a car that prevent you from saving money.

7 pages in and no mention of David Wells :dahell:

Dude was a Pitcher on the Yankees and yet this dude had a beer gut and pitched a game hungover (He actually pitched a perfect game hungover).

I doubt David Wells was busting his ass in the gym :rudy:

Same goes for Mo Vaughn, :flabbynsick: ass nikka.

Also I doubt :flabbynsick: was busting his ass in the gym later on in his career.

With that being said, in the NFL/NBA many of these dudes go broke after they retire, some nikka that made MILLONS playing on the Ravens went broke to the point where he had to move back in with his parents after he retired.

i honestly don't feel sorry for any athlete especially if they blow there money on bad business deals, 10 cars, 3 homes, club hoppin (i.e pacman jones), wifen hoez ( i.e. chad johnson) and be up in clubs shyttin on other dudes in the club by flossin his sh!t and talkin sh!t about a regular dude.. i see this so much in L.A. with these hollywood stars and athletes.

Jamal crawford was one of the few dudes who was down to earth and actually saw him in a club solo just lookin like a regular dude and just doing him.

Everytime I wrap my head around someone makes millions upon millions for putting a roundball in a hoop, I want to throw myself in the bushes :skip:

Why are you busting on Mo Vaughn?

Anyway, there are some sports where you can get away with not being in top-notch shape. Basketball, soccer and hockey are sports you need to be in good shape. Football, it depends on your position. Some positions, you can be out of aerobic condition, but your strength/anaerobic conditioning has to be on beast-levels.

In baseball, you can be a fat turd who can bat or pitch. Like Kirby Puckett would crank the ball into the outfield but would only get a single. If he could run fast, it would have been a stand-up double.

I'm not busting on Mo Vaughn, I was just mentioning he wasn't in the greatest shape and yet he was a professional baseball player. BTW I'm a Mets fan and his hitting was :flabbynsick: when he played for us, but despite that I don't have any salty feelings towards him, I don't take sports that seriously :whoa:

I just googled Kirby Puckett, he died of a stroke :to:

Great player from reading his wiki page... at least he lived to see himself go in the HOF.

This is truth.

People get blinded by their God-given talent (if most of us put in the same amount of work as, say, Kobe, we'd still never come close to seeing an NBA roster), but they don't realize for most athletes, the difference between peaking in high school and getting paid to perform is that hard work.

Also I think the reason athletes get more hate for 'easy' money than other entertainers (actors, singers, etc) is cuz athletes have been put on their pedestal since they are very young. There's a lot of envy built up over the years towards athletes.
You what I think bold is nikkas think hey I play in my rec league avg 15 I could play in the league too. That's what it is they don't say shyt about inventors, ceo's, etc because they think and or know they can't do that shyt. When you can't something a lot of people have no problem with you getting paid for it but when it's something they feel they can do it leads to various negative comments from what I see.

Boxing might be the hardest job I've ever seen.......the amount of training you have to do outside of those 12 rounds is ridiculous. I started boxing just to get in shape....Don't have a trainer but I'd just go to the gym on days when I'm not lifting to hit the heavy bag, speed bag and jump rope.....shyt is tough man. Most people can't even hit the heavy bag for 5-10 minutes without gassing out meanwhile Mayweather will sit at the heavy bag and just hit it consistently for an hour or 2. shyt hitting the speed bag for a 1 minute is a problem for many people. Sports in general just require a level of dedication that most people don't have....

the avg nfl career is 3 years
the min nfl salary is 375k for a rookie

sign me the hell up for this torture

I agree.

but let's keep in mind that you have to survive HS and 3 years of college football in order to get paid.

And your number assume you make a roster, and stay for the whole year. Alot of fringe guys get summer camp invites, get cut. Sign with a practice squad for a few weeks, get cut.

That "average" number is inflated by not counting all of the men that take years of punishment and never get a guaranteed year long deal.
