This is why it’s important that we own our shyt. Then we can give people 100% unfiltered black content. Until then we have to play by their rules.
What?! Why pretend everyones black experience is the same? I personally enjoy many of todays black shows and I never say hey it's not authentic enough. The fukk does that eeven mean?

There is

Stefani Robinson, who might be the best writer on the show. wrote 9 episodes

She’s right but it’s because the creators of these shows either found out they were black in college, or didn’t grow up around black people. Their blackness comes directly from social media.

The 90s featured authentic black experiences because they were written and created by authentic black people. They were outside. These new blacks were not.

A lot of 90 shows were memorable because we were young and impressionable and not used to seeing a abundance of black people on tv. Cut the bullshyt. Fresh Prince was funny but it was hardly a realistic represntation of being "black". The majority of us never lived in a mansion or went to private prep schools.

Judd Nelson was in New Jack City guess it's not "hood" either.

Those shows were actually good & was heavily dependent on black culture. There a reason why those shows are being syndicated 20 years later & we're still clamoring for an another reannaisonce like it.

Y'all hoes been drinking the white man's juice so I know you forget.

Back in the day we were in unison. Showtime at the apollo, def jam, etc

We fell off.

That’s what u grew up on. If Martin didn’t exist and Kevin Hart had the exact show. I can only imagine the hate. Or if Drake starred in Fresh Prince oh boy lol

We got more whitewashed folks now who want to be inclusive so of course a Martin or fresh prince of bel air show that hardly any white people & an all black humor wouldn't work now.

But the thing is kids/teens would love the hell out of both shows. And we would over analyze everything being we are adults.

It's not a bitter age thing. You can clear tell how badly the culture has declined over the years.

Add on to the climate of hurt feelings & more restrictions & half the shows that came on in the 90s would get canned before it ever gets televised.

I feel that but if OG Viv in 2020 get replaced by a light skinned version that show would be destroyed. We ain’t gon ever be happy with fake shyt lol. We want shyt that’s not real to be real or real shyt not to be real. I just don’t care. If the show good I watch
