Despite alot of them being in interracial relationships, they have created one of the best Black shows currently.

So hey, them pawgers/swirlers in Atlanta are making something better than most nikkas in relationships with Black people are making right now:manny:

Unfortunately, I don't think alot of people on here would agree with you.

There was another thread on here about "authentically black" shows and the consensus on the Coli is that Atlanta is not authentically black and the writing appeals more to smart woke blacks and whites, exactly the demo spoken about in the OP and does not appeal to the "inner city" whom they deem are the "regular" blacks.

pretty sure my mom did that when i was a kid and had us do it too..

Where are your people from? Maybe it's a regional thing. Someone mentioned lots of folks from the Caribbean doing this. And since there was some Caribbean influence in places like the Carolinas, Florida, and Louisiana, maybe this became a practice for folks who had people from those areas.

people have been saying that since the Cosby days. So if we agree that interracial relationship does not predetermine whether are not someone can depict the black experience why are white significant others always posted on this site when it’s a BW, why don’t you guys keep that same energy. The only reason why some of you feel that way is because Atlanta is a mainly black male cast. When Issae came on scene there was so much pushback and assumption about who she was...turns out she has black partner and when the Lawrence character created many changed their tune. Perhaps that’s why other posters feel that this is disingenuous.

Last show that had nuance was Atlanta.

The rest is made digestible for white people. :manny:

Ah ok. I'm around ados that historically came up from Mississippi. So regionally that is the biggest influence with respect to cooking and I've just not actively seen anyone using citrus to clean their chicken.

It’s interesting cause if these shows are for white ppl, they’re minds then become limited of what a Black person should act like or is suppose to act like. A lot of white ppl don’t interact with black ppl at all, so when you go to work or an environment with them, they expect you to act a certain way based on the show they watch. It could be:

A) Basketball player/rapper
B) Gay best friend
C) Carlton / Braxton or the Token that does anything and everything for white acceptance

Anything other than that is surprising /new for them and they may try to put you in a box. Sorta like women.
