I remember about every year starting with 1983 or 84;

In my mind...anything from about 1988-1990 is pretty fresh and seems like yesterday.

There isn't a major difference in anything until about the late 90s with the internet and cell phones....that's when you realize how crazy things have changed.

The little technological differences like having to use phone books, public phone booths, or before using area codes before you made a call.... or going to the library and using an actual card catalogue are things that stick out.

You really don't realize or consider how difficult things would be compared to today.

The 80's was very care free from what I remember. There were many messages about staying away from drugs, preventing forest fires, watching out for strangers and a lot of Black Pride. Def a lively period. People partied just to party. It was like no one knew what to expect just living for the day. Now everybody knows everything about everyone lol.

Back when Baby Momma Drama was still low, not an encouraged lifestyle in mainstream media and a Black Man had opportunities if he was persistent and cunning enough :francis:

How would you set up dates/social meetings?
What would you do if the person didnt show up?

You would call and leave a message. You know that thing that happens when you actually call somebody, it rings for a while, then you hear a message about not being available and you immediately hang up before it's finished?

Back in the day you would leave a message saying who you were, what time you called, what the call was for, and a time they could call you back.

And there was a separate machine that did it for you.:gladbron:
And it used cassette tapes:gladbron:

And you had to erase the tapes yourself:gladbron:

And if you planned to meet up with a person and they didn't show up, they either didn't like you or they were dead.

Michael Jackson was the most famous human being who ever lived & universally loved by everyone, Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, it didni't matter.

Crack came through, & crushed the buildings. that gang shyt went :sadcam:

nikka, I don't care how much nikkaz talk about Chicago on TV. In the '80s, that gangsta shyt was >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

nikkaz pants used to be tight as fukk. That's why when the '90s came and Kriss Kross & them brought the baggyier shyt, a nikka was like:blessed:

Hip-Hop used to be so much fun, man.

And I'm not talking about weed, molly, pills, bytches on a poll fun. I mean, legitimately FUN

Kid N Play, Doug E. Fresh & Slick Ric, Sir Mix A Lot, etc. . .

There used to be a lot of novelty Hip-Hop that was just funny as hell, yet it wasn't like, "Aw, this is corny ass Wypipo shyt". nikkaz wasn't afraid to laugh back then and not look gangsta 100% of the time or cool 100% of the time.

Crack almost destroyed a generation of Black people. Me and my mom used to live in the PJ's, and looking back with adult eyes, I remember fiends hanging around the block and a bunch of my friends dads just not being seen again

:mjcry:Reagan

British knights :noah:

BK's were :king: in like '88.

Remember how people were trying to get on the 80's wave after the cool kids got on? This came up in my Facebook memories and it reminded me of this thread. These dudes took it waaaay too far though lol
