He’s not even more hyped than Zion
Not even more hyped than Blake Griifin was when he was selected number one. I’ve seen a lot to analyst already doubting dude. He’s the consensus number one but dudes that size typically don’t work out. The msor successful story was either Yao or Ralph and most Houston fans were saddened by the conclusion of those story

LeBron is the only player in any sport that has truly lived up to the hype and even exceeded it. I’m racking my brain trying to think of others but I can’t , maybe kobe but he wasn’t as hyped as Bron:yeshrug:
Bryce Harper and sidney Crosby

when it comes to hype does it even matter? ppl shyt on bron to this day and he's had one of the best careers in sports period
First comment of the thread nailed it.

Basketball fans, more than fans of any sport, are miserable fukks that only exist to tear down athletes at every turn for not achieving whatever made up bullshyt they think matters to be considered great.

If Lebron, who came into the league and was immediately a top player and went on to win just about every NBA award and achieve every NBA milestone there is, including multiple championships…all while avoiding the many pitfalls that befall athletes (drugs, arrests, women…etc)…still has haters…PROMINENT HATERS on national television…then no athlete anywhere is going to “live up to the hype” or meet expectations.

Wembanyama doesn’t have to “live up to the hype”. He just needs to work to be the best player he can.

And the hope is that the Spurs now go to work to structure the roster around him in such a way that not only maximizes his talent, but also mitigates his weaknesses.

Mark Eaton and Rik Smits can be mentioned in terms of health.

Probably helped Eaton that he was playing water polo instead of bball until he was 20.
