I mean what exactly is the measuring stick of what he supposed to live up to?
It's made up.
Everyone in basketball makes up all kinds of stupid bullshyt hoops that players have to jump through.

Just like how they said Jokic wasn't MVP because of the playoffs. Now look at these fukkin clowns.

No but only cause they're putting unnecessary expectations on his shoulders.

I think he'll be an amazing player, one of the best in the NBA for the next 10-15 years but they're talking like he's gonna be the GOAT.

he's drinking his own kool-aid already. talking bout he's trying to win a title asap. slow down youngin...the nba is a different beast from international bball. dude need to come in saying shyt like he's trying to learn and get better with every game.

and i'm tired of hearing about his potential injuries, but it can't be ignored. spurs need go head and hit up the wakandans for them vibranium hip, leg, knee, ankle implants cause buddy gon need em. 🤷🏾
We've seen young cats who've been playing in overseas leagues come to the NBA and ball out.

Now, that's not necessarily because those leagues are better or equal to the NBA, it's because those players are forced to adapt to playing against grown ass men with grown ass rules, and all the responsibilities that come with it. While they maybe technically rookies, they aren't really because they've learned how to play in that environment already.

This kid has everything it takes to be whatever he wants to be. The sky is the limit. Once cats actually get to see him play, they'll see it too.

Idk I see alot of euros coming in and dominating the league.

I don't think international ball is a hindrance

the experience of playing overseas against pros definitely helps them out. maybe more so from developing the "right" skillsets and x/o's instead of depending on raw athletic ability.

i was saying more from the angle of not overestimating his success overseas and thinking it will translate into immediate success in the nba. we still have the best combination of skillet and athletic ability over here. i do think wemby can be successful, with the caveat of staying healthy considering his frame, but playing against the strength, speed, smarts of nba players will likely bring some of his "title right away" aspirations down to earth.

one of the best things that could have happened to him is being drafted under pop's wing. amazing turn of events to go to an organization and coach with strong history of maximizing potential of big men.
