you have to make up your mind :yeshrug: i mean first he knows everything we do, but then we have free will, first he answers individual prayers, but then he doesnt and he just sits back and lets free will happen.

religious fools just jump from narrative to narrative depending on how their year went :mjlol:

If u have children or ever dealt with lil children its the same thing... it's not difficult to kinda understand....

Think about it

you know what, good post :ehh: damn good post

of course it's impossible that that kid's parents are the one true parents, since theres parents in other countries who control/give other kids free will. maybe every set of parents who has been claimed to exist, actually exists :ohhh:

What are you thoughts on theories that we are just a simulation in a computer etc?
Could be just as likely as the Bible's version of there being a god

I just don't see what that theory adds. If we were seeing random glitches that would only make sense in a simulation, that theory would be useful. But unless the world we're being simulated from is somehow easier to explain or qualitatively different in some way, calling us a simulation hasn't added anything. It just kicks the questions up a level.

Why talk about suffering?

Suffering is part of living in this world..

The symbol of Christianity is a cross for crying out loud.
LMFAO! If Jesus were to come back today and people walked up to him with crosses he would be mortified

What are you basing that on?

"Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?"

Even among people who look at the Bible historically generally feel there's a pretty good case that Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen, at least by the final week, and accepted it for an expectation of the greater good.

I like talking religion with open minded people..

I totally get why people don't believe..

I was once a nonbeliever.

And you don't change the way you've been thinking your whole life unless you witnessed first hand God working in your life.

Also it takes humbling yourself and accepting that our lives really aren't our own.

It's a tough pill to swallow for some

Like God letting people go through terrible situations to serve a purpose you might never understand.

It's a pastor who was molested by her father who believes she went through so she could be a testimony to other and help them overcome trauma such as that.

.

Provide me with Evidence from the Pentateuch/Torah of this original sin.

Far as I know the Jews (whoever they really are) do not believe in original sin, so where did Jesus, a Jew, get this idea from?

According to scholars the doctrine of original sin was concocted by Augustine or Augustinian order monks, so how would Jesus the Jew or Saul or Simon the Jew know of any original sin.
And the idea is based upon a statement from Paul in the NT.

Also do not attempt to pull out any scriptures beyond the Torah/Pentateuch to make your point as they will be discarded

I thought we were talking about the cross and then you jumped to original sin.

There are a lot of ways to interpret the cross that have nothing to do with original sin. Original sin doesn't really factor into my theology except in a broadly metaphorical sense, but the cross is central.
