Depends on what you mean by alien.

If you mean the classic Grey, which is a creature that is based on our own imagination of what an alien looks like, no. By definition, Greys would be a primate species, given their bipedal stance, forward facing eyes, nose/nose slits that sits on the front of the face under the eyes, fingers and general body layout of a human/primate.

That is obviously the work of a mind that lacks imagination.

Aliens, should they exist, would be ALIEN; that is to say, entirely different from anything we can actually imagine.

It is a near mathematical certainty that extraterrestrial microbes exist in the universe. You don't WANT to find these; our biology has a long history of fighting off diseases that are terrestrial in nature, and follow an evolutionary trajectory that is unique to this planet. If humans encounter alien microbes, we may instantly become extinct, because we would have no mechanism to fight off the diseases they could cause.

We shut the world down for a coronavirus, something we've known about for decades.



As far as an ancient civilization or advanced alien civilization, I suppose that's entirely possible. The problem is the universe is so vast, that we may never meet them. And that's a good thing as far as I am concerned, because a species that is above us in intelligence (and they would have to be orders of magnitude more intelligent than us to space travel successfully) would look at us the way in which we look at bugs, or cats.

Imagine sending a nuke (our most powerful weapon) at them, only for them to teleport it or disintegrate it instantly.


Is that a group of beings you WANT to meet?

Personally , im not even sure this is possible. I think it all hinges on mars. We wont really know until we send heavy digging machines to mars which was obviously warm, wattery, and life supporting in its past.

Even microbes leave behind fossils. So im betting that if we do not find microbial fossils on a dry , fossil friendly place like mars , then odds are high that we truly are alone. If even the most basic form of life like microbes are incapable of forming on a previously hospitable world right next door to us, then that would be the absolute best arguement for god. Id see it as proof that a creator god chose this one dot to put life on.

And im saying all this despite not being a religious person.
