Do you believe in aliens?

Aleenz?

  • Of course. We can't be entirely alone in this big ass nowhere on some Twilight Zone ish

  • Of course not. If they exist then why ain't we seen them properly? Why hide and flash lights?

  • They've been here. Stay woke

  • Something else (please specify)

it is said to be a star, not a planet

the creation of planets and stars is only hypothesized but never replicated (see Spiderman 2)

Obviously the sun is a star. I didn’t know you meant “celestial bodies” as just planets.

Jupiter is around 1000x larger than earth, and I think the biggest planets found might only be 2-3x Jupiter

Story time:several years ago when I moved to NC, I had to walk my son to the front of his bus stop at 6 in the morning. Now, I would usually walk him there, and walk the dog simultaneously before I had to get back in the house and get ready for work. This particular day, I had walked out the door and handed the dog leash to him so I could run back in the house real quick. At that time, I looked up, and I saw in the distance when I thought it was a shooting star. I remember telling myself, I should make a wish. The cynical part of me just said it would never come true anyway, ha ha. So, as we walked, the object starts moving towards us. It stopped right above our heads, and it was a triangular, oval shape. It had six lights. They were red and green. I took a picture, but it was completely dark outside, so you just saw the lights. Everything is quiet as shyt. Even the dog is quiet. The whole thing last like 2 to 3 minutes max. At that time, it started to drive off. The thing about it was that it sounded like, when someone is looking for an address and they slow down the car, and then they see it’s not the address and they speed up a little bit. you know the sound I’m talking about. The thing that I sound so odd about it was that it was very, very low. Like a little higher than the street lights. This was 14 years ago and I still try to rationalize it to this day but that’s what always gets me. The sound that it made and the fact that it was so low. Fort Bragg is in Fayetteville, which is about 45 minutes from where I live, but no stealth bomber or whatever would be in a residential neighborhood. The crazy thing is that, once I dropped my son to the bus stop, I had to walk back by myself with the dog. This was an undeveloped subdivision, and there were woods all around. I was scared as shyt. But, I was more in awe than anything. True story.

technically, a "star" is just a descriptor. and what "makes a star" is still also a hypothesis (fusion etc)

and its not actually proven that what the sun is is the same thing as the stars being observed far away

remember its only observations, no probes have been made that are strong enough to actually make physical measurements of any star let alone the sun.

I am not at all a conspiracy theorist. I try not to work my mind up over anything that has no plausible evidence. And I certainly don't believe this planet, this human race, has ever made contact or covered up contact with aliens, nor do I believe aliens attribute to the ancient wonders of the world.

But I agree you would have to be ignorant to think that this is the only chosen place in all of endless space where water, plants, oxygen, biology and life exists to some capacity.

Even if it's just some near lifeless scavenger microbes just barely surviving off of some type of gas or chemical exchanges in the environment; even if they are only found in one little area of the entire planet that just happens to be able to harbor life, I believe somewhere out there are living organisms occupying another planet.

I truly truly believe before my lifetime is up robotics, space travel, and AI will reach a point where we will know the wonders of our universe.

But in the words of GOAT cartoonist Bill Watterson: "the clearest sign that there is intelligent life out there is that they haven't contacted us yet."
My thoughts.

False. Research The Great Filter Hypothesis.
Yes I know the Great filter theory in fact I quoted it myself in another thread and this one. One of the hypotheses to do with this suggests that the great filter is behind us and everybody has been through it and is already dead, we just showed up late to the party.

The other hypothesis is we are the only species to make it this far. In either case, we could be alone, therefore saying it is mathematically impossible that we are alone is a false statement.

We do not know.

I honestly believe we’re the only ones in the universe. It is pretty interesting though looking at ancient civilizations and their stories of having contact with foreign beings.

There’s 2 theories in this hypothesis both of them pointing to life in the universe because we have a data set of proof even though it’s just 1. None of the theories are yet to be proven therefore using us as an example there is more likely to be other life forms than there isn’t. Once again whether they are intelligent or not is a different story. I also quoted the Drake equation up thread for further clarification.
