Every time you see someone on the road who shyt fukked up......9 times out of 10 they weren't properly maintaining their shyt. Cars don't fukk up overnight, its a slow build and genuinely always your fault unless its covered under factory warranty.

I drive a Mercedes... when the alert tells me it’s time for maintenance, I schedule the appointment 
I think car maintenance is and should be (from what I remember) pretty affordable based on the car. Cheaper cars require cheaper gas, tires, oil changes, etc.

Most people, such as myself, that know about cars but aren't necessarily enthusiasts ride their shyt til something becomes a safety concern from my observations lol

It's just a car breh. Of course I'm not taking it in for routine maintenance and NEVER had with any of my cars.
Brakes when needed, oil every 10k miles, tires when needed.
Until something breaks I'm good breh.
My g35x ran til 130k before I sold it, never did any maintence and nothing ever came up.
My eclass now at 80 and never had anything done to it...

Don't maintain your car's maintenance schedule then complain about how cars are shytty brehs. If you aren't a mechanic or equivalent then you don't know shyt about your car so do as suggested.
Only go in when there’s a problem, however, my ass been in pep boys every 3-4 months for something

Nope, I just change the oil every 7k miles. My ole lady on the other hands follows the maintenance schedules on both of her cars.
