Do you have a cutoff for oldest movies you'll watch?

If I do 70-80’s I gotta know off rip it’s a CLASSIC.

I’m not wasting time on an obscure film

The Hustler with Paul Newman was my first black and white movie. That flick was GOAT

Can anyone recommend movies like that?

FWIW, I think the oldest film I've seen is the Fantomas series. A French silent crime story.

I'll watch almost anything, and I enjoy stuff from all decades. Y'all never watched the Universal Monster classics from 20's & 30's? You're seriously missing out.

Interesting, I'm the other way around.

TV was pretty much antenna only until the 90s, so all of those old shows were subject to FCC censorship.

Movies had a lot more creative freedom

I think part of that comes from me being a night owl and watching nick night like a fukking fiend lol

Nah. There's legit cool stuff in any era. This is from 1933 and was done entirely with backlit pins behind a screen:

That's just one example. The surrealist movement around the same time was some of the coolest film work I've ever seen. And with each generation, new great artists and discoveries.

I don't watch a lot below the 50's, and it goes lower, and lower until the 30's. The rest is like film class stuff, which I did watch when I was in those.

Gaslight, Suspicion, there's good movies in all those eras, Nosferateau

Just throwing this out, but Buster Keaton is one of the greatest stunt actors ever.
